Monitor and network trouble

Ok, firstly:
My monitor died yesterday, so my mum brought me home a spare one from work. Windows has installed it as Default Monitor, but I only get basic display options. I have a Voodoo 3 card installed, but it doesn't want to work with the monitor set up like that. So what do I need to do to get it all working? The monitor doesn't seem to be that different than the one I had before.
Secondly:
Just finished setting up a wireless LAN with ADSL connection. Sometimes it all works like it should, sometimes I can't access the network. Sometimes my computer connects to the internet fine, and sometimes IE can't load anything. I note even when IE is having trouble loading, other applications (Outlook Express, Trillian) are able to connect fine. So... what's up with that?
Cheers
