gems????

What are all of the gems good for? Can you do any thing with them or do you just sell them?

The common gems are only good for selling. However several gems in the game are special ones and even though they look like the common ones they do not stack and have (usually) a different name.
These gems are generally needed to solve quests, so be careful when selling your loot.

If you're playing the official Campaign, also keep any diamonds that you find. There are 2 in Chapter 1. You can use them to upgrade your Longsword. You can sell all the other gems though. Also keep:
1) Adamantite
2) Fairy Dust
3) Dragon Blood
4) Holy Water
All of these can be used to upgrade items. Go talk to Durga at the Shining Knight Arms & Armor in the City Core. He'll let you into the basement, and you can ask Marrok for the ingredients to make Upgraded weapons.

in the NWN game, the regular gems ar for selling.
in the p&p game, the gems are more for keeping or selling, and for roleplaying reasons.
so if you ask me, NWN (and all the other 3rd edition D&D computer games) is missing the part of roleplaying with gems...
(if you didn't understand me, i'll explain more carefully
)

yeah, but also for quests, admiring, etc.
