The best rock

Myself Tammy, Taco and Viscun were chatting on MSN about various rock groups and good songs. I thought it would be a nice idea to trade some songs and groups that people really like that others have not heard of.

The first one i would mention would be Theory of a Dead Man. Their song "invisible man" is on the Spiderman OST and is pretty good. Garage Rock i believe is the sub-genre and their other songs are pretty good as well.

Hmm... lets see. I listen to quite a big range of music (even though it's mostly rock). From punk-rock to metal to nu-metal. To list some of the bands I listen to: Blink182, Offspring, Sum41, Creed, Linkin Park (ok, sue me), Nickelback, Ozzy Ostbourne, Pink Floyd, P.O.D., Papa Roach, Staind, System of a Down.

Time to sue Vicsun! But Queens of the Stone Age are pretty good too. You get a chance to listen to invisible man yet Vic?

Well, you obviously know who I'm gonna mention at some point - but there are other bands I love other than Radiohead...Sigur Ros, Rage Against The Machine (RIP), the Manics, Staind, Coldplay, The Verve, System Of A Down...

And then there's the classics. I love Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc...

But Radiohead rock. Of course :D

Renaissance.

Okay: so I like folk-inflected rock bands of the 1970s. So I'm hopelessly out of touch. So I'm antiquated.

I am just getting into the new bands. But too many have teh hip hop mix to them which i really really detest. The Hive is pretty good as well.

Renaissance? No comments. I rather live :D

I did, it's pretty good though I don't think it would become one of my favourittes.

And two more bands I forgot to mention in my original post I listen to - Grey Daze, and Godsmack. Anyone heard of them?

Hard Rock or metal: System of a Down (Anything from their new album, anything from their second album, almost everything from their first album), Disturbed (Liberate, Prayer, Down with the Sickness, Stupify, Voices, a lot more), Godsmack (I Stand Alone, Straight out of Line, Awake), Korn (Thoughtless, Here to Stay, Falling Away from me, a few more)

Rap Rock: P.O.D (The Messenjah, Alive, Boom, Southtown, Youth of the Nation), Linkin Park (All of their songs), maybe Limp Bizkit (Most of their first/second albums) and Papa Roach (Between Angels and Insects, Last Resort, Dead Cell, lovehatetragedy, Code of Energy, She Loves Me Not)

Other: Sum 41 (Hell Song, Still Waiting, Fat Lip)

You too, in that case..... :p ... I don't suppose you listen to Cornelis Wreeswijk? I don't know if he made it to denmark, but he's got some really great lyrics.....

Well everyone knows I like 80's music.

So here are the things youd expect to be on my list...

Depeche Mode
The Police
New Order
Japan
The Fixx
Tears For Fears
Talking Heads
The Cure
The Church

Now for the stuff you wouldnt necessarily expect...
Apoptygma Berzerk
The Crystal Method
Spahn Ranch
Juno Reactor
VAST
Basement Jaxx
DJ Tiesto
Bel Canto
Soiuxsie and the Banshees
Billy Idol

(Though those last 2 are 80's music, they typically arent my style, but good stuff)

So that encompasses New Wave, Goth, Dark Wave, and Industrial.
