I just got xp had to upgrade no choice due to my college and stuff. Now i cant download any files that are large. Like i tried downloading Saigo NWN hak pack. It is 124 mb. I have downloaded it like 10 times and the connection automatically says finished between 10 mb and 78 mb.

It is just weird, it decides by itself that it is finished, and asks me to open the file. 20 mb and finished. 78 and finished the second time aorund.

It just wont download teh whole file, anybody know why?

I however have downloaded smaller files without a problem i downloaded 40 mb in upgrades from the windows website without a problem as well.

I am now at my college server, so i am using a proxy address to get connected. I also connected via an ethernet, not a modem. Could this be causing problems?

Try downloading a program like getright, flashget or Gozilla, that should help your download woes. Mind some of those programs though, they can have spyware or advertising software in built.

You could also use Opera browser which has it's own in built download manger.

Thanks but it turned out to be the firewall...btw you guys have any clue how to circumvent a firewall? I am at the college server and cant play any MP games. Any clue how to get around that without asking the people to modify the firewall?

Ah well that makes sense. Not that I know of, they would probably have a log of all internet activity as well so I doubt it would be easy to clandestinely do it.
