HELP WITH BG2 having technical difficulties

I can only talk to about half of the people in the game, I can't speak with the gnome that guards the door into the Balor's chamber, I ;ve tried restarting but it didn't work, what can I do?

What patch version have you got?

Try going
here and try to find the appropriate patch for you, I suggest you back up your savegames before applying the patch.

I have a problem, the computer in question doesn't have internet accsess, can I download it to a disk and install it on there?

What BG2 ya got ? SoA or ToB ?
The latest English patch for BG2 : SoA is around 8.3 MB (ver 23037)
The latest English patch for BG2 : ToB is around 8 MB (ver 26498)
Those patches remedy the prob you experiencing.
BG2 : SoA patch
BG2 : ToB patch
You can DL the patches and copy it into other PC - but I haven't try multiple disk backup procedure for these patches (some patch files can't be splitted and rejoin - the installation file might corrupt due the splitting process). hence you need larger storage media than common 3.5" floppy. The second option will be direct linking both PC so you can transfer the patch using file transfer prog into your game PC

You might be able to get a local cyber cafe to download it and write it to CD for you or perhaps you could get Bioware to send it to you.
Worst comes to worst get a fileplanet CD with other patches you need, it's about 10 quid if I recall correctly and they will send it to you. Not sure if they still do it but it might be worth checking if you are having problems with other games too.
