Holy Avenger - fighting the Six (spoiler)

I finally managed to retreive the Holy Avenger. YES!! My lead 'tank' is a paladin so it's pretty handy.

Fighting the six Lost Followers was an insane battle. It must have taken at least 15 attempts. Tried summonings, didn't work, they just got slaughtered within seconds and were unable to hurt the opposition.

Every time it looked like I was winning that bloody wizard (Ataclys?) cast something like horrid wilting and toasted half my party. Finally cracked it by zapping him with a Sunbeam spell as soon as the fight started. Toasted him so bad he died without any further input and couldn't cast any of his spells whilst he was busy dying.

After that it was fairly simple hack and slash with my cleric of Lathander standing behind the three tanks and my rogue casting Heal periodically. Some of the Six are terrifyingly resistant to damage, especially the dwarf!

Only one death - my mage. But not so bad I couldn't raise her from the dead.

Thank goodness for clerics! It would have been utterly impossible without a decent one!

Anyone else had a crack at this fight?

Where can I find these guys? I backtracked to Kuldahar before completing the third level of dragon's eye...

Check the gravestones in Hrothgar's Glen.

Ah, thanks!

BTW, how was one supposed to know that...? Where did that piece of info come from in the first place??

Damnit, forgot where Hrothgar's Glen is...
Is it in Kuldahar Valley?

Sheesh! Have patience, Jae! (Thanks for the PM, by the way)
First off, did you get the medalian thing for the sword from Dragon's Eye? Second, yes Hrothgar's Glenn is in Kuldahar Valley. Its where you went to fight that priest of Bane. Any other questions?

Erm, I didn´t actually go to Kuldahar Valley yet..
Medallion thing? Does it have anything to do with the ghost whose sword I returned?

You'll need to get that medallion thing in order to trigger the rise of The Six. The medallion thing is in the third level of Dragon's Eye, I think (I could be wrong). Have you lowered that drawbridge yet?

Ah, was just about to do it... Thanks for the help! :)

Well, if you don't find that medallion thing (I can't remeber what its called, but its gray), before too long, let me know, and I'll have to dig out IwDII, load up an old save, and see if I can figure out where I found it. *sigh* ;) :D

Unless you're a lot better player than I was, you're probably not ready to take on The Six if you're still in Dragon's Eye. Give it a try though, and tell us how you fare.

The medallion you need is in the room Thorasskus leads you to after you've crossed the drawbridge in Dragon's Eye and whipped the Efreeti & Thorasskus' snakes. It's a room you cannot open from the outside.

Then go back to Hrothgar's Glen and click on the second gravestone in the front line from the direction of the door the the Banite enclave on the eastern side. Then get ready for the fight of your life!

The clues are all in the notes of the Banite priest.

By way of a spoiler, watch out in particular for Atalaclys the Lost and Kaervas Death's Head.

How do you make Toraksussomething take you to that room? So far he just arsked me to find his mom, which I haven´t been able to locate.

There should be a conversation path that allows you to ask who his mother is, he will tell you she is Izbelah. Once he mentions the name you can guess his true identity and he reveals himself, summoning a load of giant snakes to attack you party. Once you have disposed of them follow him, there is a hidden exit in the SE corner of the room, you will get a caption saying "you feel a breeze blowing" or something.

I'm not sure what you have to do to get that conversation path, I have a paladin in the party so it was easy because he can sense Thorasskus' evil.

Yeah, I tried with my pally and it worked... Problem is, when I got him down to badly wounded, he fled. Is he s'posed to do that?

Yes, he is supposed to flee. Follow him to the southeast corner of the room. It looks like there is no exit but there are some hidden stairs there. Follow him down them and you will end up in the room you could not open from the outside. There you will find the amulet of the lost followers.

Go out of the room and back to the area before the drawbridge, there you will find Thorasskus and you can finish him off without too much trouble.

Woohoo, just beat the lost followers in second try! I must admit their fighters were pretty hardcore, and even though I had two earth elementals bashing away at one of the wiz´s they only got him down to barely injured. At least he kept them occupied till my fighters could take over!
BTW, magic and mordekainen´s force missiles works like a charm! :)

My summons worked out great, my insect plague (the mobile bug swarm) made Ataclys cough up his breakfest. :D

Well done indeed, young jedi :)

They were mean mothers! I never thought of the insect plague spell, I never carry that one. I didn't have Mordkainen's force missiles either, went out and bought it after the fight because Atalaclys used it to such good effect on me so many times! He must have been a ridiculous level mage, he got 4 or 5 of the things on each cast! If he lasts long enough he casts something called 'aegis' don't know what it is but it seems to protect him quite well from magic missiles etc.

If you have a save in the right place I would recommend doing it again and zapping Atalaclys with sunbeam just to watch him fry.

What a battle! One of the main reasons I play the game :D

Which, without giving too much away is the reason I loathe the last level of Dragon's eye. It's so overwhelmingly tedious I have temporarily given up the game.

Ooh, just remembered. It wasn´t insect plague, it was creeping doom! That one is a killer!
