Problem in Firkragg's dungeon

 Okay, so I got into the huge fight with Samia and her party in the Firkragg dungeon in Windspear Hills. In the middle of the fight, a spell was cast on Haer' Dalis and he switched teams. Which also caused his snapshot to disappear from my party on the righthand side. (In addition to H'D and main char., my party is Minsc, Jaheira, Yoshimo and Aerie.) No problem, I thought - when the fight's done, he'll snap out of it and come home to my party.

No such luck: he stayed 'charmed' (or whatever it was that happened) and wouldn't leave my survivors alone. I had to kill him, and even then his snapshot didn't reappear in my party's control. What happened and how do I fix it? I don't want to run through that fight again if I don't have to, 'fixing' the problem via my saves.

Thanks for your help...

I don't think it's a domination spell so maybe it has something to do with the PC/Aerie/Haer' Dalis romance conflict, "if" your romancing her. Not sure though never romanced her myself with Haer' Dalis in the party. You could always reload save and CTRL-Q him back into party if he goes berserk on you and CTRL-Y Semia's party just to spare you the trouble of fighting them again.

it sounds like the point in the conflict where he challenges you for aerie.....

reload, go outside and kill time for a while ankheg hunting...good money maker, even after the initial investment with cromwell, using friends spell and a decent rep you make a big profit making and selling anhkeg plate mail...

if it is the conflict you should see dialog where he challenges you for aerie...i never saw it, i think my rep was too high...

I think it is possible to have him lay off the challenge. I forget what the possible outcomes are though.

usually haer says something about your quest takes precedence over personal matters, and that he realizes the bond between you and aerie....

i think its pegged to reputation, not alignment, as i almost always play neutral

Hey, I appreciate all of you getting back to me so quickly. I'm stil kind of new to BGII as I played it through once and am doing so again, now, after about a year away.

My party's rep. is pretty high, and my character is lawful neutral - and I wasn't romancing Aerie at all, I nipped that in the bud early. (I didn't feel like putting up with the drama and having her leave me in the lurch at some critical moment.) Also, H'D didn't say anything before turning on me - it was in the middle of the fight with Samia, after all - though I know dialogue can interrupt pretty much everything.

Any more thoughts? I've kind of resigned myself to going back to my most recent save before H'D's treachery and starting over. (Unfortunately for me I think that that's just prior to entering the room with the archers behind the wall - I quick-save all the time and overwrote the one right before battling Samia...)

A question - what do Ctrl-Q and Ctrl-Y do? Sorry to ask stupid questions, but how else is this dingbat going to learn? :D

Sounds like a weird glitch. I'd try loading the most recent save you have and see if that fixes it. Outside of that, I am not sure what to tell you.

Ctrl-Q brings up the console command. It will let you edit the game, in this instance you could re-spawn HD and have him jin your party again. The other one is a quick way to kill your opponent. Basically, it's a kill function. You have to edit the .ini file though before it will work.....I don't remember the command, I never use it, but do a search for CLUAConsole, and you should find what you need to know. :)

cntrl space brings up the console, cntrl q adds any character you have cursor over into your party...add kangy into your party, mel, and monkey boy...hehheheheh

cntrl y actually inflicts about a 1000 damage to whatever you have cursor over, certain creatures are immune...

you can get these cheat thingies to work by editing your balder.ini file...

add a line in the [program options] section of the ini file, and the line is

"Debug Mode=1"

many strange and wonderful things can be done after you do this...hehheheh
