Does anyone know why heavy armour suck versus light armour? All my leather armour are better than chain mail for some reason. My dexterity is 19 or so and I have a full armour skill. Strange...

Because weight is also factored in. If you want to wear heavy armor, be sure you have the feat that allows your character to carry a lot.

actually, it's because of the new 3ed rules, which is quite logical actually. if u wear heavy armour, then u get a limit to the max number of bonus u get from dex. so if u want to wear heavy armour, u might consider just having dex at 12 for the max dex bonus. of course, this means u don't get the reflex bonus.

So heavy armour actually suck? I mean if you don't get the bonuses and you can aquire a high armor rating with light armour what's the use of heavy armour?

You can save the dex points and put them other places...

Because if you keep a character's weight low, their ability to handle weight high, and build up their dexterity, heavy armor will still give them more protection than the lighter stuff. It's all a matter of tradeoffs.

Yes but if you concentrate only on dex you will also get a good bonus to ac. So why not just do that insteed?

Yes, but you have then used some of your attributes in dex instead of other things.... it's all a matter of what you think is best.

Plus theres a feat for the lightweights that lets you use your dex bonus instead of strength to hit in melee.
Heavy armour caps your dex bonus to AC, so you have to ask yourself, at what point is the armour better than the dex AC bonus? Think about your archers with light armour, and tanks with strength, constitution and heavy armour.
Duel wielding rangers, rogue skills and spellcasting are all factors too!

weapon finesse is useless on any weapon besides daggers and shortswords..
So if you want those massdmg dealing weapons.. go STR
