Paladin Lay on Hands

For some reason, this only heals 1hp each time I use it, and I am level 6 now. Is this a known issue, or has 3rd edition severely watered down this ability?

Actually the ability was boosted (if you have high charisma that is) in 3e D&D, since now the amount of HP that heals is equal to the level*charisma ability modifier. But i do not know why your Paladin heals for only 1hp. Maybe if you have no bonus from charisma you can still heal for 1hp instead of none.

That must be it, the default amount must be 1 hp. I have no charisma modifier.
