For those who are playing, a couple of quick questions about this area and the general region:
Once I've identified the Guild Head of the Assassins (who vanishes when attacked), do I need to locate him down here and kill him--or can I just return to the Ralph at Stormfist Castle, and confirm his suspicions about the Duke's murderer?
Shouldn't Penumbra be down in these dungeons? I've got her dagger, and I understand she carries part of what I need to get Corinna's summoning help.

Lizard/thief dungeon
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Hmm. It sounds like you may have hit the sewers rather then the verdistis assasins guild. Once the guildmaster flees, did you head down the sewer entrance out side, or instead through the cupboard in the corner of the same room? You want the cupboard
Anyways, you -do- need to track down the guildmaster for more info, which he'll provide at swordpoint.
Penumbra is located in the thieves guild, which is accessed by using the hatch behind the bar in the tavern next to the Ducal Inn.

Odd: I didn't see Penumbra when I went down there. Just the three rooms, with the barkeep in the seedy, otherwise unoccupied tavern.
Thanks for the tip on the assassins. Yep, I hit the wrong sewer entrance. Interesting stuff down there, though. Those lizard fanatics are fun.

You missed a lot of the thieves guild, then. Easy to do in poorly lit areas; FWIW, I keep my in-game gamma setting for DD at something like 1.8 for just that reason. East of the bar, east of the room with the thief who challenges you to lockpicking, you'll find a room with a lot of doors, one of which is guarded. Penumbra is behind that door.
I don't want to spoil how to deal with the guard because it's one of the cleverest moments in computer gaming I've ever run across. All I'll say is don't kill him, there -is- another way

Thanks. I'll take your advice, and up the gamma. It seems particularly bad on the eastern and southern sides of any room, given how easily doors are hidden behind the isometric facade.
