Pronunciation of 'Aegis'

Today, in english, we had to do SAT words, and i was startled to see Aegis up there remembering him on these here forums. Its pronuced E jis. Just something i wanted to tell everyone hehe

Yup and it means something like:
Shield given by the gods.

A character I played in Baldurs Gate before I ever registered or even seen the forums of Gamebanshee, was named: Dark Aegis.

Just a bit of random info Id give in a thread devoted to Aegis.

Also, it's worth knowing Aegis is MY shield. So, when I'm under attack, I just block with Aegis to protect myself. Aegis might get battered and damaged, but that's what Aegis is for and nothing to worry about.

Aegis-fang is my warhammer. I like to use it throw at things, and to bonk people on the head with it. Sometime's it gets lost, but I usually find it.

Aegis is pronounced 'A-jiss', not E-jiss'.

My first contact with this coolest of Greek words was the 'Aegis Suit' worn by Necromundans in Games Workshop...

I'm afraid Vinin is right. It's "E-jiss". I've checked Longman's dictionary.

Of course, it might be different in Oxford dictionary...

Anyway, I now see that we are talking about the word Ægis (pronounced i-djis), rather than that popular slang word 'aegis' which I am almost certain is pronounced A-jiss....my mistake
