User, you will be proud.... ;)

About a week ago, User posted a thread about The Equalizer, saying that although everyone thinks it sucks, it is a good off-hand weapons, due to the mental shield it grants.

Well, i disagreed, but i wanted to test that sword some more, because i never played much with it...

I equipped it in the off-hand, with Celestial Fury in my right hand... I CLUA'ed several differnet-alignment enemies i created and i was amazed to find out - the THACO bonus is applied to the Main Hand, as well!

Just think about it.... 99% of the enemies you fight are Evil, and most of them are Chaotic Evil... That means that equipping the Equalizer as your off-hand weapon will give you +3 THACO and +6 damage bonuses, on top of the main-hand weapon bonuses! That, AND mental shield!

A very solid off-hand weapon indeed....

Weeeel...

Id still take crom feayrs 25 strength.. which grants a +7 +14 bonus

Mind you.. With a barbarian weilding using a 21 strength girdle and rages...Equalizer suddenly becomes very tempting

But is it worth it. Is it better than Black Razor or Hosindo's doom(or whatever it is called). Please tell me what weapon you would use at the end of TOB. :)

My plan now...

Just to do it.. For all the hassle im going to do it, just to do it

Evil elvish theif.. Take him through Baldurs gate 1, kit him to assasin and get a tome for 19 strength

Lvl in soa / Wk till I have Uai, then use lum machine to get 20 strength and dual to fighter... Kill Irenicus, recieving 3 additional strength points in hell Ill Take both Viconia and Anomen in my party and when they lvl enough Ill pilfer there holy symbols...

25 natural strength, Equalizer in off hand and Burning blade in on hand

Lemme see... Thats an average backstabb of 241 vs chaotic evil monsters...with poison, and later with Critical strike...

IMO, Blackrazor is the best sword in SoA (no, not counting ToB).
Dual wielding it w/ either Crom or Celestial Fury and you go munchkin...

@Gnomethingy: What is burning blade?

proud of you alson..

i never noticed the thaco bonus before, since bun bun averages around -20 thaco ....

its really good if you sk sola to kensai mage multi...

but for a lot of people, who dual class berserker mage, thaco is a really important thing to watch for...

best of all, with equalizer in off hand, you can equipp instead of helm of charm protection the helm of brilliance, so you now have sunrays and prismatic sprays...and since this item is not covered by item upgrade, or sola, you can stick in bag of holding to recharge....

yes kiddies, item upgrade and sola items cannot be recharged by sticking in bag of holding cheese....

even more fun, if you have axe of unyielding or burning sword in main hand, equalizer in off, and daystar in second slot, not active, in main hand, you can still cast sunray from item powers button even though daystar is NOT equipped...

a weapon with a power like celestial fury and lightning bolt, in a non active weapons slot still allows you to cast that weapons power even if its not the active being used weapon....

run bodhi, run!!!

a pally, with this combo can cast as many sunrays as you want....

:D

The recharging cheese is seriuosly one of the smelliest... :D
I usually don't bother with the Helm of Charm Protection - there are better helms out there, and both low saves and chaotic commands makes charm obsolete...

OMG! Daystar! Of course!
The Daystar bonuses should work the same!
That another +4 bonus to evil, IIRC... ...

Heh... Thanks, i'll try it sometime....

:/

You get one point in your prime req for the wrath test...

And since my theif skills wont be active at the time, a fighters prime req being strength and all...
