Watchers Keep + Hello

First of all, hows it going, as this is my initial post hello everyone
Please help.
Watchers Keep, the final battle with the demon is pretty hard and i'm having a tough time. The minion summoning is bloody tough and stops me from having a real go at the beast. Any tips?
My party of six a around level 17-18 (single) and 13-14 (dual).
Does demon need +4 weapons and will silver sword kill him one hit if I get lucky?
Plus, how do I forged the extra piece onto the flail of ages?

Welcome Baked goods! Like your nick.
I have never fought the demigorgon (sp?) face to face. I'm a coward. After spotting him I run to the stairs to the left (out of sight of the monster) and pour huge amounts of Cloudkill on him. He has high magic resistance but it will finally kill him.
As for the Flail of Ages: you are probably doing Watcher's Keep from BG II and haven't entered ToB yet. When you start ToB there's a little helper there which will upgrade items like the Flail of Ages.

just plant loads of traps before you sumon him

it usually makes him easier. if nothing works come back later or don't kill him you only get a bit xp which really is almost nothing if you compare it with what your party already have

I don't agree. you get 550000 xp(I think).

possible Spoiler highlight to read
and by the end of the game you have... something like 6*6=36 million xp half a mil is only 1/72 of that, besides you do get some xp for not killing him later on when you read the correct sealing scroll
so I think that if you have prob fighting just seal him up

your weapons need to be +3 or higher to harm the imprisoned one. I recommend having all of your close up fighters surround him and using whirlwind. try to take out the imprisoned one as fast as you can so that he can't summon up more demons.
also setting traps does work, 8 traps (normal kind even) will kill him before he can attack you.
also with a parth of 2 or more you get MORE xp if you don't kill the imprisoned one and just seal him up (but if you can still gain XP when you kill the imprisoned one when your soloing then something's not right).

Okay you are right, but it is much more satisfying to kill him.

Hey. thank guys for the tips.
- does killing the demon give you any items or is it only exp?
- I have sola installed, does that make him harder than normal?
- When I rush in I still havn't damaged him even though my Anti-Paladin dispells with every hit, is using silver sword, haste, and has a THACO of -10. whats up with that- is it just that the demon has a lot of protection spells?
Cheers

Baked goods, I can only answer the first 2. (SPOILER)Demo doesn't drop any items, you just receive the xp. The Solamod on its own shouldn't make the fight any harder but the improved imprisoned one component of the Ascension mod will.

Its possibly due to the fact that 'Dispell on hit' abilities generally have a low lvl cap, 10 I beleive.. (Xept for Sotm) and Demo's casting lvl is to high for you to knock his prots down..
Try the spell breach, or similar.. A wand of spell striking, for instance.. Can save much woe in places like this..

the demon drops nothing but XP. but you CAN kill the people that hired you in the first place....I'm not sure what XP you get for talking to them after killing the imprisoned one. I recently killed those fools with my soloing swashbuckler that is doing the evil paths. By tomorrow my "Evil Path" should be done and posted on the TOB forum when I went from SOA to TOB...
as for the 2nd question I have no idea what the sola is.
as for the 3rd question what class is an anti paladin? there is no such class in BG2 that you can be (there are some enemies that are that though.) you could cast pierce magic or pierce shield to make the imprisoned one able to harmed by spells since he has a 95% magic resistance.
the imprisoned one has 290 hp and regenerates 3 hp a second which might be why you think you can't touch him (I know this from versus guild books).

You can also use lower resisitance,
The Anti Paladin is a paladin kit that comes with the Valen / Solufein npc mod, I think they also offer a generic archer, Ie an Archer that is kitted from a fighter as opposed to a ranger and thus able to be any alignment

The Anti-Paladin kit is part of the mods mentioned by gnomethingy and IMO are better wizard killers the 'wizard slayers' due to the 'dispell on every hit' ability. I have also teamed up with Valen (the best NPC in SoA IMO) and often find that the rest of my party are waiting in the wings while I clear entire levels with these two. Valens level drain makes a formidable combo against any magic users.
Currently: Have clear everything in SoA up to ch. 3 (including 3 dragons and Demi-liches) with only myself and Valen.
Is their any way for an Anti-Paladin to use Casomyer?
How low can a paladins THACO get for Casomyer (assume max level 18).
Do you think an Anti Paladin outweighs a Paladin overall assuming both concentrate on two-handed weapons?
**BTW I do have the improved mods installed making things a bit more difficult- such as the Demi liches guardians** <edit>

Hmmm.. I beleive Anti-paladins get there innate dispell as a compensator for not being able to use carsomyr,
As for Anti paladin vs Paladin, it would depend greatly on the kit
Obvoisly an undead hunter would be better against undead, A cavallier would be better vs deamons / dragons and an inquisitor would be better vs spellcasters.
As for all round, id say unless you have tob Paladins are better, simply becouse Caromyr is such an awesome sword and the only two handed weps that can compete are.. Ravager, Gram and staff of the ram which are all from tob ..

With ToB and weapons upgrade my Anti-Paladin can use Unholy Reaver + 5 or Soul Reaver + 6: Unholy Avenger, prob the two best two handed swords in the game.
I can't think of a reason why a Paladin would be better, other than from a role playing perspective.
(any paladin lovers out there feel free to knock me down a peg or two with your surpreme wisdom and faith)

I will...
Couse those swords come from a mod, not tob...
YES yes the anti-paladin also comes with a mod, but im comparing the kits considering items that are available in soa and tob without any addons, besides the obvios antipaladin mod
On the subject of those mods... While ill agree there well programed I think the items ect that come with the sola / related mods are a complete joke, that acid katana would be completly stupid for late tob but you get it in soa, ahh, whatever...

I agree with you there. Except for the harder challenges, such as dragons, demi-liches, demogorgon and a few others (SoA only) the rest of the game is a complete walkover- the ascension mod (??is that the one that improves enimies, can't remember- whatever that one is I've got it) is overpowered by the vast array of new and more powerful weapons and NPC's (such as Valen- powergamers delight).
I installed the mods to improve RP to have an entire evil party of six but have found that it has taken away from the game - I have even considered re-installing to clear everything up.
I finding the game less rewarding as it is less of a challenge.

I can hardly believe you can find the game *less* challenging...
Anyway, it seems to me you are confusing things a little.
The Ascension Mod only changes ToB final battle.
No items added!
Maybe the most challenging fight you can ever find for SoA + ToB.
The package by Wes comes with the other TOB Improved Fights, like
Improved Abazigal, which definitely are *harder* than the original
version.
Again, no items added.
The Solaufein Mod makes quite number of enemies much smarter and
much harder.
Dragons, Mind Flyers, Trolls, and many single encounters are totally redone:
the Guarded Compound, Twisted Rune, final SoA Irenicus, etc.
Everything is *much* harder.
The player can find a couple of new items: the acid katana, a couple
of items that ONLY Solaufein can use, and the Cloak of Balduran
(very powerful, but the fight to get it is something...)
If you romance Sola, you'll face even the Eclipse party, second only to
Ascension in difficulty, by common opinion.
Then, there is the Item Mod. This one indeed adds items and upgrades.
You could just avoid this particular mod.
I don't know what the Valen Mod does with items, though.

I just dont like the things solufein and valen come with, they alter the game outside there sphere and it annoys me (Like Kuriosian, ensuring you cant do gc till late game)
Ive got the enhanced random enounters,
Ascention
The one where you always see the hardest spawns available for a certain dungeon (Ie, a lich instead of a bone golem)
Improved mage scripts
Improved golem scripts
Druid grove brown dragon
And something my friend gave me, one makes the *Cannon fodder* monsters like orcs and ogres have better thaco more attacks and more hp so its not just.. Let off two fireballs and roll on past
But atm.. Lol, ive got none of that stuff becouse im busy? (Angry? Bored?) Testing a bunch of stuff my friends insist on me downloading off them

Lay 1000 traps, make him attack you, and RUN!
