Just ended, thoughts (spoilers)

OK, just finished the game. I didn't find the end fights as easy as some.

I must have missed out on a lot of experience, either that or carrying a henchman around for the first half of the game hurt me. But I only finished with a 11 ranger/5 rogue, and that even includes gaining a level from a mod (Sword of Arcadi, really good one). I really don't know where I was gonna get another 70,000 XP from.

I didn't do any of the henchman quests, because I bungled this in Chapter 1. I used Tomi for the early game, to disarm traps and stuff. After I got a few rogue levels (yes I did it backwards, did ranger first, then rogue), I started using Daelan or going solo.

My equipment was Shadow Legion Armor, which I got fairly early in the game -- never found anything better. I had Astral Blade +2 and Feyduster +2. I like the longsword/short sword combo; kept expecting to find an uber weapon, like a longsword +4 with added bonuses or something. Astral +2 was good enough though.

I found the dragons very difficult, damnit. I mean, the White Dragon was no sweat and the Green Dragon wasn't so bad, but Klauth was the one sucker I didn't kill, because even after getting him to badly wounded with the dead dragon sphere, he would usually kill me before I got a single hit on him. Most of the fights in the game, however, were very easy.

As for the dragons at the end, again, I found them very difficult. Thank god I had carried the dragonslayer shield around with me. Otherwise I would have been toasted. As it was, I had to reload countless times. I had to cheese my way through, suck down potions constantly and keep teleporting away and back again.
To win this, I had to back myself into a corner (probably a dumb strategy in a real fight) so that only one dragon could hit me at one time.

The end fight was hard...until I figured out what the hell was going on. I used the psycho monk at the end of the game, and he died by running into the blades before I could smash the statue. After that though, Morag was relatively easy.

You can join me if you want, I'm currently playing a barbarian on hardest difficulty in chapter 2, if you got a level 8 or 9 character you're welcome to join me. Trust me, the fights are a lot harder :) Havent fought a dragon yet, but I'm sure it will be a very very tough fight.

I am in the middle of Chapter 3 with my ranger/rogue (12/6) and I gotta say that I have problems with some of the major enemies. I couldn´t kill the white dragon in the snow globe on my own and had to get Daelan to help. Same with the Balor in the creators' ruins. I dual-wield the Astral Blade +2 and the Gladiator´s Blade, sometimes the Chaos Dagger Greatsword. I have the impression that my AC is somewhat low (22). Do I do something wrong ?
BTW, why is it better to start with the rogue before switching to ranger ?

I was under the impression you gain more skill points as a first-level rogue? not sure

Are you playing a frost giant or something? Dual-wielding two long swords is probably not the way to go, even if they're two good ones. I'd go with Feyduster in the off hand. Your AC does seem a tad low. I was around 26 in Chapter 3, started carrying around the Dragonslayer shield to get it up in the 30s.

@ Baudib : Hmm, I have yet to find a nice off-hand weapon. For some time I dual-wielded the Sword Saint´s Legacy+1 katana and a Mercykiller rapier, but I thought my current combo was better. In BG2 a skilled ranger had no problems dual-wielding 2 longswords.(I have a STR of about 23, due to some magical enhancements) Regarding my armor class, I used to wear the Shadow Legion´s Armor (I believe that´s its English name) but recently substituted it for some other leather armor (Rogue-specific, I can´t think of its name right now) with about the same AC. Are there any other ways to boost AC besides armor, shields or magical amulets and stuff. How about a high dex value ?

I'd suggest teh boots of speed. +4 haste AC stacks with everything. There is one shop in Beorunna's Well that sells them.
