If I'm gonna multi, what's the benefits of ranger/cleric vs. fighter/cleric?

I'm guessing that the druid spells of the ranger will more than make up for the small loss of fighterish pros of the fighter/cleric...but I wouldn't be able to wear plate right? :(

Both rangers and clerics can wear any armour so therefore a ranger/cleric can also wear any armour. If you want to use stealth you ofcourse have to wear leather or something that allows stealth.
If you play a dwarven fighter/cleric you get better saves because you are a dwarf.
If you compare a halv-elven ranger/cleric to a half-elven fighter/cleric the fighter/cleric levels up slightly quicker on the fighter side and the ranger/cleric gets druid spells which is ofcourse worth it. Ranger/cleric is the way to go.
If you don't have ToB I suggest you play human and dual class instead.

Thanks Bruce...and I'm intending on getting ToB before I start this ranger/cleric. Wait, if I start it before I get ToB, and I install ToB, will my cap get raised? OR would I have to start all over again?

And...how do proficiencies for the ranger/cleric multiclass work?...will I have enough to do flails, warhammers, and maces?
Or will I have to drop maces...

As ranger you get also those additional ** in 2H style. ToB, in difference with SoA, doesn't allow the 3rd * here, though, nonetheless it is a bonus.

You can install ToB and continuing playing with any saved game from SoA. While finishing the SoA quests you can go to watcher's keep, but the main ToB storyline starts after you finish SoA.

You should have no trouble getting ** proficiency in three weapons of your choice; I think you will even be able to start on a fourth by level 9.

If you take the dual-class option you can put a 3rd * in 2-weapon style while still a pure ranger.

Since the off-hand actually works only once in a round i rather do not care if it's THAC0 is -2 or -4 :D

I was able to put *** in dual wield with my ranger/cleric multi.

A ranger cleric (dual class) will get enough proficiency to get 2 stars in almost every one handed blunt, and 3 in 2 weapon style.
