Write on my plaster cast!

This Friday night I had, together with my cousin (who wanted t spend the last two days of his vacation in Stocholm), the unfortune of entering the crime statistics. For no reason whatsoever (the police rapport states the perpetrators thought us in their way when descending the stairs at McD's a few minutes earlier), we got assaulted by two not so bright youngsters in plain sight of everyone in the middle of Stockholm. We got away with black eyes, swollen lips, a few bruises, a broken arm (mine) and a lost cellphone (mine as well).

Pros:

An experience
We got mentioned on the radio and now eagerly await the first movie offers
I got to meet a beautiful nurse during my second visit at the hospital
I've gotten lots of sympathy from friends and family (and some flowers, too!)
I get a week off from work (though with less salary)

Cons:

It hurts when I laugh (it hurts about the same when I don't)
My cousin will think twice about coming over again
I've lost all phone numbers to my friends
No hope for any large indemnity
No MTB or fencing for at least four weeks
I get strange reactions from other people because of my looks (guys want to prove they are the tough ones, girls think I'm an idiot and old people tend to cross the street)

So, will you write something on my plaster cast? (If it's really nice I might consider copying it over. ;) )

Oh no, poor you :( *shower Astafas with hugs and kisses*
I am relieved to hear you and your cousin got no severe injuries.

Of course I'll sign your plaster, hope you don't mind that my signature is completly unreadable.

What happened to the perpertrators, were they caught?

What about (a cliche) "You should see the other guy"
"Well if you will stand in front of an express train"
"What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger...ow...ow...ow *takes morphine* ahhhhh"

Sorry to hear it, what posessed them to assault you? Isn't it inhibiting your typing a little?

Gods, @Astafas, sorry to hear about it! :( At least you seem to be more-or-less alright. What happened to the thugs? And are there any provisions under your form of government to provide you with some kind of compensation for the pain suffered and the loss of revenue?

Thanks, lovely one!

Yeah, they got to spend a couple of hours at the police station but were released later. There will most probably be a trial although I haven't yet been able to reach the procecutor in charge of the investigation.

That's good to hear, I hope there will be a trial - why shouldn't it?

I hope you can use this rather unpleasant vacation to something nice at least, like reading and perhaps playing games (which arm is it?)

Well, first the perpetrators are supposed to pay the indemnity themselves but they seldom got the means. Instead my insurance should step in (with an excess, of course). Should the insurance company for some reason refuse, there's finally a victime's foundation you could turn to. However, I'll be very surprised if I get even enough money to buy me a new cellphone...

He he, I've thought about those. The first one is out of the question, though, as they were actually not very impressive at all... Had we only heard them coming I'm sure we could have given them a match. But we were jumped at from behind (as is the standard procedure for these guys) and it took a while only to realise what was happening.

Absolutely nothing, and that's what makes it so... unnecessary. The police said that if it hadn't been us, it would only have been some other guys.

I write very slowly but (in answer to CE's question) it was my left arm, so it could be worse. I'll just have to pause BG2 with my nose or something... :D

Well, this is Sweden, what did you expect..?
About the victims foundation: Been there, done that, took me 4 years...
I've heard alot of people getting their cellphones stolen, especially in Stockholm. Too bad it had to be you and your cousin.
Next time you can come to SollefteƄ instead, there's no people left here, so you won't get in trouble...

:D :D :D

Sorry to hear about your incident. I am glad you are (relatively) ok. I unfortunately welcome you to the world of crime statistics (as I was robbed a few years ago). How long will you need the cast??

That's horrible Asty, maybe I should come right over to your place and help you hit the space button... :D ;)

@Perroxx: Another fellow countryman? I haven't seen you before, so hello and welcome to SYM :) Yes, it is correct that a lot of people, especially young people, get their mobile phones stolen here in Stockholm. I read in the local paper that a 10-year old boy got his stolen by some older kids, obviously that is very common.

Happened to an aquaintence of mine, they were walking out of a restaurant and got attacked from behind, if they had saw them coming they would have dealt with them...you are right it seems to be the cowards that attack from behind :(

I suppose that is little solice then, perhaps you can be happy no one else was harmed? :)

Thanks. There actually was a gang in Montpellier who tried to rob me a couple of years ago but they never got caught (and the police honestly didn't seem to care very much). It felt much worse because of their knives but I managed to get away thanks to a new world record in the men's 100 meters. Around 7 sec, I'd say... :D

For four weeks and it already itches...
