A friend and I are trying to play online.....

How does one go about this? We have each created accounts from the game menu (on the DM client tab). But neither of us seem able to find the characters that we have exported, and when we each try to generate a new character, the tabs for choosing class, alignment, abilities and packages are greyed out....

Also how does one go about the actual process? Will the game automatically be listed on GameSpy after choosing the name of the server and the type of game (e.g. action, role play etc) ? Or do players connect with eachother in some other manner?

Any help in this regard would be much appreciated....thanks in advance :)

Hey DW

Are one of you two hosting the game or are you jumping on various public servers?

You should be able to create a valid Inet user account via the DM client or the Multiplayer game options.

From there, you select Multiplayer and then either choose to load or host a LAN/Inet game or join a LAN/Inet game.

If your just trying to play with the two of you, one of you will need to host the game. You are correct, when one hosts the other will see the game in gamespy (sorry, missed that in your post).

Still, a little foggy on the character creation problems. Perhaps if you could elaborate or expound on the individual steps taken, maybe I could help more.

Sorry, sometimes I'm a little slow; its' all these damn steel plates in my head. :p

Thanks Ned :)

Well...I'm trying to host..but I'm not sure what I should be doing........ Though I have created an Inet account....

However, The only options seem to be to either load or to create a new game.... When I create..... I can neither seem to import in my character, nor properly create a new one......I can choose race, gender, and portrait, but then it leaps to customise, with the other tabs greyed out....
I tried just hitting play and discovered that I had been classed as a fighter......
My friend (Yshania) has the identical problem.....

I don't want to be a fighter :(

But we have both tried the host option and the join option through DM client.

The characters we hoped to use were our existing single player chars (previously char saved), though admittedly I am happy to restart since DW is a much higher level :D

When we get to the option of creating a char, it is either a pre-generated one, or one from scratch. No import option. (This is our first attempt at OL) To create from scratch we cannot customise beyond the portrait, we cannot choose class or alignment etc etc, we both end up as level one fighters.

As far as actually getting a game going...well we haven't yet  :(

All fixed....

Instead of going via "DM Client"seems we had to go from "play" to "multiplayer"...and then go through the various screens, worked like a charm ;) :o
