Traps and Wizards?

Yeah, a good combo I think...
high intelligence, spend a few of those precious 2 points on your disable trap non-class skill, a few on search, and you *sucess* on every thing with DC 35 or under...
A good bonus for the wizard? or am I squandering points?

get a pixie familiar, it's like having Tomi except without the annoying dialogue (though you have to put up with the constant buzzing noise which can get really annoying sometimes). Put the extra points into something more useful like persuasion.

Plus only a rogue can disarm traps with a DC over 25...

Or you could take a few Rogue levels. You'll get a huge amount of skill points when starting out as Rogue with high intelligence...

Do NOT multiclass an arcane spellcaster. You will be sorry in the end.

Magus - Bards can raise Disable Traps like rogues. My skill is now 20 +9, or +11 if I do the bard-song thing first. I can get another point or two if I fiddle with my equipment.

@Kibblez: Well, that does make sense, considering that bards have always been "roguish" characters. If you're right, though, it's yet another manual errata (erratum?) --p. 77, under skill Disable Trap.

Actually I have a Rogue/Sorcerer, levels 3/4 respectively, and it's fun. You can multiclass spell casters if you aknowledge that your not going to get your highest level spells.

You've said that before and I disagree. If you want to play a Rogue/Mage, then you should. OK, you'll miss out on a few high level spells but you get a lot in return. It's just a choise of preferences.

Okee, okee... everyone is free to build his char as he wants, especially considering the role playing aspect. I guess I love too much the sorcerers to spoil them with another class.
However, if someone is multiclassing a, say, sorcerer hoping to get more power, that is, I think, a mistake.
By the way, you can disagree as much as you want. I said it before and I'll say it again. You never get in return as much as you lose.

Again, that will have to depend on what you value in a PC. Either you care for being able to remove traps yourself or you don't. I myself don't care so much for all the high level spells (MM and Fireball will always be my favorite ones) but love the versatility of multiclasses.

My whole point is that in terms of power:
ArcaneCaster_Lvl20 > ArcaneCaster_LvlX+AnyClass_Lvl(20-x),
where x>10.
In terms of roleplaying, I already said it, you are right.
By the way, it's a multiplayer game. Let the rogue do his stuff. You can't possible cover all areas. I always thought you better be good in one than stupid in many. But that might be only my opinion.

Absolutely, multi-classing is fun
I've been playing a monk in SP, but recently my brother got NWN so we've been goofing-off in MP. I decided to run a character through the prelude for the free levels before we started playing some mods. I started a monk (old habits die hard

) and took a paladin level before finally settling on a sorc.
Evasion and Divine Grace more than make up for the loss of a couple of sorc levels (my cha adders to saving throws are outrageous). I would still cast Time Stop and lay waste to the mobs with a maximized Cone of Cold anyway

.
I like to roleplay the guy as a kind of an 'absent-minded goof'. He's tried to apply himself through mental discipline and failed...he then turned to the gods for guidance and inspiration, and once again hadn't found his calling. Finally, he just said "screw it!" and forged his own path through inner power.
I'm more into roleplaying than powergaming, but there are a lot of good reasons to multi-class for either style
