It says in the manual that Dodge bonuses stack, up to a maximum of +5. That's simply not true. My fighter/rogue has the Shortsword of Quickness (Haste: +4 dodge bonus to AC) and Monk Boots of Something that give a +3 dodge bonus to AC. They stack. The manual lied. Which brings me to my point. I was thinking of getting the Mobility Feat next level. That gives a +4 dodge bonus to AC against attacks of opportunity. Is there a dodge cap at all? I don't want to take Mobility and later find that it doesn't do my character any good at all...

The Player's Handbook says that Mobility does stack with other dodge bonuses, so I would say that it does work.

Yes, but the question is: is there a limit? The manual says the limit is 5. As I said before, that can't be right. Assuming for a moment there is no limit, Haste, the monk boots, the Dodge feat, and Mobility would give a possible Dodge bonus of +12. But does all of that really count? Maybe the max is 10. In that case, 2 of the bonus from Mobility would be wasted. Unfortunately, it's not so easy to test. Mobility bonuses only show up in the opposing attack roll, not the character sheet. And even then, the only indication is *hit* or *miss*.

BTW, are Dodge bonuses limited to +5 in P&P, or is that something that's only stated in the NWN manual?

There is no limits to the amount of Dodge bonuses one can stack in pnp, of course in pnp Haste doesnt supply a dodge bonus, they actually call it a Haste bonus.

Aaaarg...that means maybe the haste "dodge" bonus in the manual is a typo, and maybe the +5 dodge bonus max really is enforced. In that case, I'd have +3 from the monk boots, +1 from Dodge feat, and I'd only get +1 from Mobility (which is rarely used anyway). Grrr...

Neverkeeper, anyone? In case I make a choice I come to regret...

I don't know about the dodge thing (sorry), but where did you get the short sword of quickness? Or what chapter or from what shop or something. I'd like to know, and hate to rely on the randomness of the game. Thanks.

Sorry, I got it as a random item in Ch. 3. I know, because I had to reload several times to get it. It was in the same treasure category as Red Dragon Armor, that I know. Unfortunately my fighter/rogue doesn't do full plate...
