Sub-classes for ITEMS

Yes that´s right. Sub-classes for items. I have been watching some TV shows and it suddenly hit me:
Where are the MASKS? A monk can´t use a helmet so what if there were enchanted metal masks that can be used by thieves,spell-casters and monks? Also there could be robes for monks as well but they would look different (they could never kick in a mage robe, that would be just stupid...) like a long cloak with some covering tight clothes (a human female fighter avatar looks like a...well a lady who has a teeny tiny skirt, you know what I mean!) Then there could be...claws and gloves for monks! The idea of bare hands as deadly weapons sounds a bit redicilous.

And then some avatar ideas: Hair lenght. I´d love to import my real-life long brown-blond hair to the game. And human female avatar looks VERY tubby and certainly not beautiful. Remember those in BG and ID? I HAD to use editors to change my PCs looks...

And then some animal/monster familiars: What would you like to have? I might fancy a dragon as big as a wolf or a panther. A white dragon with golden stripes. It could be a...spirit dragon. They are destined for a one single person: to live with him and protect him. Also mages could have goblings and druids and rangers could have animals from rabbits to bears. Those tiny familiars in BG2 mostly lived in their masters pocket...not much point keeping your lil´ friend in a pocket to protect it´s life.

I totally agree

i think the next installment of IWD should follow in the footsteps of Neverwinter Nights. They implement a *somewhat* improved avatar system, where you can change body style/tatoos/hair, though it still needs MAJOR upgrades hehe. The idea of sub classes for items is a good one. Hmmm how about the possibility of customizing your favourite weapon (for a price).....if anyone used to play 2ed D&D they will remember the thiefs hand book that allowed custom scabards (with secret compartments/poison in the bottom etc...) and the ability to add jewels with special enchantments to your weapons/armour. oh and in NWN you DO get to choose familiars at the start. (mages have a nice selection of imps/mephits/wolf/panther/hell hound etc...)

It would be so cool to have this jokemaking dragon running about...I have never really liked the Dragonlance dragons. They are so "I can kill you all you just listen cos´ me HUGE and smart and I have lived 1000 and 1000 of years..." they are BORING and so...so...arrogant!A smaller dragon (my spirit dragon friend Saros) could be like Tasslehoff. A wolf sized dragon throwing insulting and hilarious notions towards his enemy would be different and FUN.
If the familiar has to be picked in the start I´ll take the sorceror levels first...where can I find some more info about 3e rules familiars?

If you want to have discussions with your familair you've really gotta play Planescape Torment. You get a skull familair who tutors you and has a whole own personality (and is extremely usefull in combat, he swears at the opponent, who's gotta make a will save or only be able to attack the skull, which has a permanent blur on him).
Also in PT you've got magic tattoo's, how's that for a subclassed item?
Btw, in regular DnD (the PnP one) you can make your clothes magical, they're just armor with a bonus of 0 (remember 3d edition armor class), as well as many other things (but I'm yet to encounter a magical nipple ring :D :p ).

Hmm yes...he´s Morte if I remember right. My friend told me about him...tattoos would be nice. Especially for aasimars and tieflings cos´ according to description they SHOULD have them...or at least aasimars should. If the familiar thing won´t work then we´ll just need more figurines (waaaaaay more powerful).

hehehe

ya i remember PT. The tatoo idea was really innovative, and the fact that you have such a wide variety of NPCs was awesome. (a floating skull, a succubus, a robot! come on now! hehe) as far as mini dragons go, maybe they could allow higher (much higher) level druids to have Fairy Dragons as familiars. They're about 5-7 feet tall (if i remember correctly) and are Lawful Good. They focus on Illusion type spells to confuse their enemies so they can escape. I'm telling you the ol' Monstrous Manuel has endless possibilities! *crosses his fingers for Titan familiars in ID2* ;)
