Which are the best weapons for you ?

I like to hear your thoughts about the weapons you choose for your character.

I have a dwarven barbarian using a towershield and scimitar.
Starting Stats:
Strength: 18
Dexterity: 8
Constitution: 19
Wisdom: 8
Intelligence: 9
Charisma: 6

*minor spoilers included*

Why scimitar ?
Because they have a 18-20 crit range at the start and are one handed.
Quite early in the game I can buy a scimitar +1 and upgrade it to Desert Wind +1 which gives a 1d6 fire damage bonus.
I will choose the improved critical feature which will enlarge the crit range to 15-20 (I think).
This will be 25% crits which is roughly one every round.
Later I can upgrade to Desert Wind +2 which gives 1d10 fire bonus or I go for Ula's Heart which is a keen weapon so my crit range should be 12-20 (40%).
Which should give me near 2 crits per round.
If the foes are not too hard I allways have the option to switch the shield with a bonus weapon e.g. Scimitar of Speed (haste) which gives 1 extra attack on the main hand.
Of course I will use Power Attack for the 5 damage bonus and maybe even advanced Power Attack for 10 damage bonus if I am still hitting enough.
I will go for Two-Weapon Fighting but not for Ambidexterity or better to save the dex and features.
This will make the off hand weapon not hitting much but since it is only wielding a light weapon the primary hand penalty is only -2.

So that are my plans, what are yours ?

hehe spoilers

well my first time through i played as a human fighter (pretty boring eh) luckily around chapter 3 i had 28 strength, and specialized in a variety of weapons. This gave me the chance to dual wield Bastard swords, or Bastard/long sword, or even Battle Axe/Hammer at one point. The 28 strength allows me to use two of virtually any weapon i want, because i still have over +20 to hit after the -10 for using two weapons etc... (i didn't bother with 2 weapon feats hehe) besides that i've always been partial to sword and shield, or just two handed sword. Thats just the way i've always been. I do like the addition of the double-bladed weapons, but they were never my thing. My current character (Elven Ranger/Rogue is pretty adept at Rapier/short sword.) the coolest thing i've ever done though, is my Wizard character, decked out in the black robe and using a scythe +3 Ala: fighter feats!

hehe more spoilers

Items spoilers ahead ;)

well lets see, for starters i was 17 Str when i made my character. The rest is all item enhancements. +4 from Daelen's upgraded necklace, +2 Gauntlets of Ogre Strength, +4 Belt of Fire Giant Strength, finally +1 Str at level 16 the grand total being 28 Strength. FYI it works great with Boots of speed hehe

I'm running 19 strength right now (with a +3 belt), and I get up to 22-23 with Sharwyn buffing me. I'm using two-bladed swords and was using a greataxe +1 for a while with my level 11 Paladin, Level 1 Sorceror/Cleric. I can't help but feel somewhat dissapointed in seeing the +4, +3 items in this game. I liked the old BG2 days where +1 was amazing. Made it feel less Diablo-sih to me (+123123556654). Oh well...

Death's Handmaiden

One cool weapon is the Death's Handmaiden Scythe.
2d4
+4 enhancement
keen
x4 criticals

So with improved critical hit you will have a crit range of 18-20 and doing x4 damage with it.

Nameless Light

I also like the Nameless Light Bastard Sword.
It is quite nice for a one handed weapon.
If you fight evil (which you do most of the time) its:
1d10 +5 enchanted +1d6 electrical damage

Favorite weapon? Well, an excellent weapon for spellcasters in the early part of the game is that wand used by the mage holding the dryad/nymph hostage in Blacklake: nice attack, one-hander, free lighting effect, and it gives the spell penetration feat. :)
