BoTB in Argyle - how to handle it.

Well as people know NwN is getting very close (well some already have it as it seems - but not me) and thus BoTB is about to go "live".

But seeing as the guild is not exsiting in Argyle and that all the people currently in the guild is not really "in the guild" (again in Argyle - well actually, nobody is in that guild :D ) Im thinking that it would probelry be best to run 2 version of the guild in regards of the website.

Thus I am currently in the process of updating/changing the website
( Preview of BoTB website ) and dividing into 2 parts.

One part will be the general BoTB site where we can post charactes for general BoTB, and wannabe chars for Argyle and what ever we find out.
Second part will be regarding Argyle and I propose that only characters that have joined Argyle (when argyle goes live) and maybe even only characters that is a member of BoTB in Argyle when we form will be posted there.

If people have comments, suggestions etc. as to how to handle the differentation of BoTB and BoTB @ Argyle post them here so we can figure out how to handle it.

One thing is for certain. We are going to need to discuss things with the DMs at Argyle as to how they think things should be done. Not about the website, but about guild mechanics and what-not within the world of Argyle.

This shouldn't be done yet, as we should let them finish Argyle first. But once Argyle is up and running we should probably start contacting Rhino and Pranker and discussing our plans and their plans. They might tell us to hold-off discussing it until our characters are actually powerful enough to raise the Banshee banner, but that's only if they say so.

Just out of curiosity, will Argyle be accessible through the ingame server browser?

Dunno actually - guess we will see when first version of Argyle goes live.

@AJ.: They want us to RP our meeting up in-game, RP in the world and get stronger and then we can form the guild and see what happens from there (we will proberly be wiped from the surface by an existing guild when TATers find out we have formed :D )

So... we have to subscribe to Argyle ourselves? I always thought that all of us will play in Argyle; and the subscribtions will be done at guild level... was I wrong? Maybe I'm missing something...

And yeah, I don't manage to log in to the preview of the new site... is this normal?

Thx.

The guild will not exist at Argyle before it is create in-game so we can't enter the Argyle world/scene as a guild but only as individuals with a background connection (your chars bio)
As for everybody playing there - I would imagine that some people will find it boring or others only want to play multiplayer modules and not a 24/7 world - and others again might find the world to be to hard (many reasons why people wouldn't want to play in Argyle but still want to play with BoTB)

As for logging in to the site - can you log into the "real" BoTB site? - cause if you can I don't know what the problem could be - same password-thingy program.

So we are going to play on Argyle. AND BotB can be used as an out-of-game guild, so you can play your self-made modules with them. Is this right???

I ask this, because I am planning on making some (great :D ) modules myself, and I don't want lamers to screw them up. People at BotB can be trust (i think ;) ) and I want THEM to play my modules.

BTW: Still have to wait one week!!!! Arrghhh...

@Rudar: well that has been the plan from day one :) (at least that was what I've thought all along)

We will use BoTB to play each others modules(hold sessions), DM them etc and we will try to create the guild in Argyle.
The BoTB has always for me, been a place to find dedicated RPers interested in NwN and not just find random people over the net :)

Wich is why I wanted to know peoples ideas as how to differentiate between the various purposes of btob.

Got it :)

Okay guys, now I got it. The plan's great I think but I still wanna have a taste of Argyle myself :)

@Xandax: Strange, I tried it several times: I can log in to the normal site but not to the new one (the preview one). You can try it yourself with my name/pass and see if it works...

BTW, a bit off topic: anyone know a place in Europe where it was released? I Belgium 28 June is the soonest I could find.

I got one point,
could you use a different login system, that supports Opera?

Next to that, no comment.

@Xandax: then all my dreams can come true :p

OFF TOPIC: Holland here....28th of June (it think that's the date for whole Europe)

@Wyvern: You should be able to log in on the "preview site" also now :)

@Stilgar: the password log-in is a simple java-applet, but if it is a general problem I will try to see if I can find something else - or make it myself (although I'm not very good in applet programming atm :) - better at applications)

Xandax, I understand and totally agree about the BotB being role-played into existence in Argyle. Nevertheless, that doesn't eliminate the fact that we will have to work with the DMs on some things. There are quite a few, I'm sure, but just to give some examples: the old Academy site, the demon-hunt for the Banshees, any other loose-ends of Banshee/Argyle lore.

Like I said, we might not even need to worry about this until our characters are at the point of establishing the guild, but I have discussed it with Rhino and Pranker before, and they both agreed that we will need to talk about these things again sometime when the guild and Argyle are both closer in the making.

And as a final-note, as many have already stated in this thread: Just because you are in the BotB, does not mean you have to play in Argyle. And if you play in Argyle, it does not mean you have to play with the BotB in Argyle.

BotB was originally created as a group of role-players here at gamebanshee who could play together when NwN was finally released. A lot of us got hooked on Argyle, and thus developed new aspirations in that area, but I'm sure there will be plenty more Banshee stuff going on than just Argyle.

When you guys start making your modules, you should let Xandax know. That way we can start coordinating times for people to play and DM sessions with one another. We can, of course, also use modules not created by Banshee members, but we'll definitely want to play yours as well.

:)

Yes of course - and that is why I like Argyle so much - Rhino and his mob are really good to talk to and seems open to a lot of ideas that will help promote roleplaying in the world.

as for the rest: nicely said - couldn't say it better myself :D (even though I tried  )
