I just reinstalled Win98, and in the monitor settings I don't get any options above 16 colours and 640x480 resolution  Please help!

That would mean you are currently using the windows default VGA driver, which isn't capable of anything more than that. You should be able to download the latest version of the display driver you need from the manufacturers website.

Once you've downloaded the driver, you can install it by right-clicking on the desktopand selecting the settings tab. Click on the 'advanced' button and click 'change driver'. From there you can either select an appropraite driver from the list or click 'have disk' to install the driver you have downloaded. Depending on the display card you have, the driver may install itself automatically.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks Flibble :) Silly me for thinking that Gateway might have put the monitor driver onto their system CD... that would be too useful...

What, you expect to find anything useful on a driver support CD? :D

Maybe that was a bit optimistic of me... :o :D Reinstalled my graphics card drivers too, and it's sorted :) Now for sound drivers...

I have a query about monitors Vs TV screens.

If I hook up my PC to a high resolution TV, will it function better. Because I'm not going to waste my time connecting it all together only to find its actually a poor substitute.

The reason is, a few friends and I connected a computer to a television at our campus on to be disappointed by the quality shown.
