Weapons for Jaheira
I'm somewhat curious as to what weapons some of my fellow players give everyone's favorite half-elven fighter/druid. Slings and darts are obvious choices, yes, but the selection of a melee weapon seems somewhat problematic.
She can weild staves and spears, yes, but since I'm sadly ToTSC-less, I don't have access to stuff like the Staff of Striking, the Staff Mace, or the Quarterstaff +3. That leaves me with... well... a Quarterstaff +1 or a Spear +1. Not particularly inspiring, and she needs the AC so her off-hand carries a shield anyway.
The only thing that leaves her with is small swords, or more specifically, daggers. Although at the moment I have her carrying this neat dagger +2 called the Heart of the Golem I got from this thief in the area you come out into after clearing the Nashkel Mines... incidentally, by it's description it appears to be a unique item, but I managed to loot a second Heart of the Golem off of Marek... I read somewhere that some people outfit her with the Dagger of Venom. I was intrigued by the idea, since it had never occured to me, and it'll probably be my best bet. Unfortunately, it seems kind of weird for Jaheira, clad in plate mail and carrying a large shield, to be carrying a dagger around. Scimitars or clubs seem to make more sense, but, alas, those are for the BG2 Jaheira - and her 17 dex, thankfully - only. I guess daggers just seem kinda off from a role-playing perspective. I don't really see her as one to use poison... *shrug*
Anyway. Thoughts?

I usually equip Jaheira with the Dagger of Venom +2 (from the weaponsmith in Beregost) and a Sling +1. Or I might pickpocket one of Drizzt's scimitars, although if Jaheira could talk, I'm sure she wouldn't approve.
I agree that she should wield a single-handed weapon and a shield.
You seem to be acquainted with the weapons that TotSC has to offer, but there's one you didn't mention: Scimitar +2: Rashad's Talon.
BTW, did you encounter the original owner of the Heart of the Golem in the same area where you met that thief?

You could (try) to kill drizzt and give her one of his scemitars (but their just to powerfull weapons)
I usually give her a quaterstaff+3 (bought in Ulgards Beard)
And if i'm not mistaken there is a scemitar +3 in Durlag's Tower.
But you have to have TotSC ffor both weapons.

Rashad's Talon is in ToTSC? Cool. Hm... out of curiosity, how are scimitars implemented? Do they go under large or small sword proficiencies? Are they usable by thieves and druids as well as fighters, rangers, and paladins?
Also... wasn't aware that Jaheira could use Icingdeath. Can she in normal BG1 mode or is this a strictly ToTSC thing? Either way, it doesn't make much difference to me, since Drizzt is both too cool and too powerful for me to kill without going completely out of alignment, ruining my heroic reputation, and using a good deal of cheese. Besides, I already helped him. ^_^;

As for the Heart of the Golem, I got the first one from a thief named Hentold in the desert area you enter after clearing the Nashkel mines. He wanted me to return to the reveant, but, wanting the 3,000 xp and the cool new listing on my protagonist's highest kill score, I sent my fighter PC in solo and hacked it to death, so I got to keep the dagger, which turned out to be the Heart of the Golem +2. I let Imoen use it for a while until I found the Short Sword +2, then I just kept it in her inventory. Much later in the game, after helping Lothander remove his geas, I confronted Marek in the Blushing Mermaid and killed him, taking his nice Eagle Bow and a second Heart of the Golem. Maybe I should have given the reveant his dagger?

They are classed as short swords. When you create a druid in BG1 there is no scimitar proficiency, only short sword. I am not sure about thieves, but certainly druids can use scimitars. I had Coran pick pocket Drizzt for his weapon, which is +3 Frostbrand.Originally posted by Ryo

Theres a realy cheesy tactic to kill drizzt and get both his weapons.
Highlite to read the tactic:
All you need is 1NPC, 100ths of arrows (preferably +1or2 piercing or biting.
Have you're archers stand on the island where you meat drizzt, and lure lure drizzt with the NPC that you want to "sacrafice" to the other side of the river.
You should be able to hit him while he stands there hostile, trying to get to you, but because of the low AI he just stands there taking arrows.
After ALOT of arrows he dies
Hope this helps, try it once, it gives a kick to kill him without cheese (managed to do it once), but this way is also fun.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure if a Druid can use a scimitar unless you've installed TotSC. Does anyone know if a Druid can use a scimitar in the orginal BG1 without the expansion?

And it's a bug that you can pickpocket one.
You're unable to pickpocket equiped items,
but since Drizzt is dualwielding, and dual-wielding isn't included in BG1, they put 1scemitar in his inventory, while he should be wielding it.

Actually, Stilgar, it's even weirder than that. Non-joinable NPC's are a lot of different from normal characters. They don't use items the way that you're used to thinking.
For example, Drizzt is not actually wielding either of his scimitars. He's actually wielding a weapon with the item code "S1-12" (a +1 longsword that does 1d12 damage) and a weapon with the item code "DRIZZTS" (a +5 long sword that does 1d8+5 damage). Those items are not "droppable", so if you kill Drizzt, you can't pick them up. He's also not wearing his armor (not on his body, anyway--it might be in one of his quick slots). He simply has a base AC of -10 without armor. He's not even a Ranger; he's a 16th Level Innocent. The game gives him 10 attacks per round. It's not based on proficiency points or anything; that's just the way he was made. So you see, you shouldn't think of him the same way that you think of your own characters. The reason why you can pickpocket Frostbrand is because it's in his inventory, where it can be pickpocketed; it's not a bug. He seems to be wearing Defender on his head in his helmet slot, so I like to think that he's wielding it with his teeth.

Out of curiosity, which program are you using that allows you to view Drizzt's inventory, stats, etc.? I know that the creature browser in ShadowKeeper lets you do that, but GateKeeper doesn't seem to have that function. Where could I download this program?

I have ToSC but did not have it installed when I equipped my Avenger with Frostbrand - so the expansion has no effect here

Hm... I've heard it said that if your character has any of Drizzt's equipment on him when you import him into BG2, Drizzt is notably upset with you when you meet him again. If this is the case, what does he say? Does it inevitably lead to conflict or can you talk him out of it? Finally, would that make it impossible to enlist his help in the final battle against Bodhi?

I'm pretty sure TotSC changed something about the scimitars. Druids couldn't use them before? They were short swords but became long swords? Anyone got the TotSC Readme-file available?

@Astafas, I have ToSC but it is not installed. I cannot remember if there is a change to scimitars, but my druid can wield a scimitar now...and at least Frostbrand is showing as a large sword...If I get a chance, I will check out the read me file later on today

Astafas, I remember reading something about scimitars, too, but I can't remember exactly what it was. Perhaps a patch gave Druids the ability to wield scimitars.
Ryo, I use Infinity Explorer to look up information about BG1 and BG2 all the time. You can download it at http://infexp.sourceforge.net . It's not an editor; it is simply a "viewer", and it lets you see EVERYTHING. I mostly use it to look at dialogues. I also look at Global Variable triggers when I need to debug a game, or if I want to control events in the game. It's very easy to use. The only tricky part is figuring out the character codes and items codes. Fortunately, in BG1 the codes are fairly straightforward. They're not straightforward at all in BG2, but fortunately, you can look up creatures and items by name in Shadowkeeper and then find them easily in Infinity Explorer.
Drizzt does in fact wear a scimitar on his head in BG2 (try using the cheat key Ctrl-Q and see for yourself). I'm not so sure about BG1. But how much more proof do you need that he wields a scimitar with his teeth? It's indisputable.
As for whether Drizzt will react badly towards you if you steal his equipment (or kill him) and then meet him again in Shadows of Amn, my answer is this. I've never done such a thing. In order to find out what would happen, I'd either have to do it myself or look up the dialogues in Infinity Explorer. Why don't you see for yourself?
