Maybe it's because most people don't play pnp, just computer titles, so they don't really know all the rules and stuff behind the game. I know some people that love BG & IWD, but when i asked them to join a real D&D pnp session, they just said, " no way, that stuff is only for geeks, it's sad and a waste of time", or something like that. They want the easy stuff, not pnp, not roleplaying, no thinking, no buying books, and not playing only once a week, and taking a month to level up.
On the other hand, i love this stuff. I play every week. Just love it.

PnP is far from dead!
@astor: I agree with you, I find it funny that not many ppl post here. D&D (along with perhaps some other rpg live games) are waay better than any computer games may be. I've had the joys of being a player, and then a DM - and both are real fun. I've also played through all editions of D&D and I tell you, some experiences me and the rest of the players have had have been amazing.
This is hardly the stuff for geeks, it's the real men stuff! What me and my old rpg pals would do is have a good time somewhere (could be at somebody's house, at a sports club playing football, having lunch somewhere, whatever) and then finish the day off with a good round of D&D. To me, it was a social event (unlike playing on the PC by yourself)...nothing beats it!
