I've read one of Willa's thread which closed by Sleepo and I think some new-b outta know a bit indepth of the rules. Feel free to add some more other explanations
Forum rule #2
#2 - Questions or ideas that deal with illegal activities, including any post related to software piracy, will be removed immediately and you'll lose all posting privileges.
Simply imply to :
1. No discussion of sofware piracy, pirated sofware, and even mention you have or use a pirated software
2. No MP3 songs discussion - especially the copyrighted ones
3. No game emulation discussion and any emulator game ROM discussion
4. No discusion about cracking a copyrighted sofware.
PS : Quoting Buck on forum rules
"Let common sense be your guide" when you post your reply for this thread

3. ROM's aren't illegal as long as you own the original. Like when you want to play that old mega man game on your pc.
4. It is legal to use a no cd crack to keep your cd's from beiing damaged. (I think)
If not, feel free to mention.

One thing that I find quizzical is the rule about posting to avoid the filter. It seems that enforcement of this is at best sporadic and at worse non-existant.
While I am not defending Aragorn Returns, he did post something interesting about the post which got him banned and one of my posts regarding the TV show "The Osbournes".
The content of the two posts was markedly different (mine was clearly satire, his was . . . well . . . just plain strange), he pointed out that he used profanity or otherwise invoked (or posted around) the filter something like 21 times while I used various forms of "(bleep)" in the place of words that may (or, in some cases, may not) have been blocked by the filter something like 23 times.
His question was: Why did he get banned for his post and I didn't get so much as a warning?
While I am not campaigning for a warning or banning myself, I have seen numerous other posts with people deliberately posting characters or words to evade the filter and not being warned or having their post deleted.
Filters bug me, both in principle and in practice. I am not easily offended by foul language, but with the number of minors that frequent this site I understand why the filter is in place. I also like that the lack of profanity makes these forums some of the most pleasant and fun to visit on the internet. Clearly in the case of GameBanshee, the filter is a good thing. However, it is a little frustrating to invoke the filter when talking about legitimate things like a wris****ch, **** Cheney or ****roaches.
I think the mods are very good about giving out warnings, closing threads that get out of hand, and reigning folks in when they get close to the edge of good taste, but I wish that enforcement of people posting around the filter would be a little more even.

But those discussion sometimes went off course into ROM begging and several illegal things. Furthermore you can't be sure every member have the original - which is why it's safer to leave those matter undiscussed IMO

Disclaimer: I'm not Buck and this is just my personal opinion.
I believe AR's rampage of "Your Mama" was the starting point of his decline and then the last incident was the straw breaking the camels back. Only Buck will know for a fact why. I can only go on what I see happening on the board.

Personally, I have had about enough of AR.
So I'm not going write anything about this..... guy.
And avoiding the filter, wel... I don't believe in filters. So that can be turned off for me. But I understand why it's there.

I have harped on about this before, do a search of the forums and you will find my comments. When i have more time i will find the necessary links for you to see.
I find it quite annoying that we should
have to warn anyone about it, it should be common sense not to post to avoid the filter since we have said so much about it before. I ask everyone to stop it just so these inconsistencies don't occur. Are we supposed to issue warnings every time there is an ! instead of i everyone knows what you are saying what is the point in putting something in it's place to avoid the filter? That has always been my opinion and i stand by it.
On your point about you posting what you did, that was on subject of something and quite amusing....perhaps i should have warned you but i wasn't here when you posted that and i missed it.
As to why AR got banned, as i said at the time, it wasn't the only thing he had done, i don't want to harp on about AR anymore, he is gone.
Anyone who wants more info on these points is free to contact me on PM.
Here is one link i posted ages ago:

@all : Quit talking about AR ! I create this thread so the new-b can know more about the forums rules. Since you're all considered veterans now, perhaps you can give some indepth description about the forums rules.

I'm thinking this really belongs under the GameBanshee Discussion category. Unless there's strong objection to this, I'll move it in 24 hours.

@Fable-Would you mind terribly letting it stay for a while? There's been a quite a few newbies(that sounds so patronising) coming to SYM lately and I doubt many of them would go to the GB discussion page. I think Willa and Archeron, for instance, should have the benefit of seeing this thread before it's moved.
Yes, I know the rules are posted in a sticky at the top of the page, but I still feel we should let this thread stick around for a while.
re. AR-I agree with Weasel on this, the Yo Mama thing was just the start, and the profanity post was simply the final straw.
That's all I'm going to say on the matter, @KidD01.

Since KidD01 intended this thread for the newbies, I think they should also check the first post in
this thread. It lists a broad definition of "SPAM" and the principles of "Lurking", as well as some SYM-related vocabulary.

Okay, I'll leave the thread where it is, and let Buck decide if he ultimately wants to move it.
