Can't play movies

Whenever I watch one of the movies, it quits in mid-movie and I am kicked out to Windows.
I have the latest v1.1 patch. I have tried running the movies from both the CD and from a CD image on my HD. Neither works.
My system specs: PII 300MHz / 200M RAM / Win98 SE / Hercules Terminator AGP video card w. latest driver / Diamond Monster 3D accel. (latest driver) / 20x CD drive
Does anyone know if the movies are available anywhere in MPEG? Or if there is a third party movie viewer for the movies on the CD? I will try almost anything that doesn't cost too much.
