Any ethnic minorities here? (like gay people, black people, whatever?)

That's a difficult question, actually, considering GB has so many regular members with different nationalities.

For example, I am a Japanese living in UK. So, I'm a minority in UK, but certainly not when I'm in Japan.

The title's not at all offensive, don't worry.

I think SS was bisexual, but that's not really an ethnic minority and she's not around anymore anyway.

I know Mah's a Philippino(sp?) by birth (like my uncle Nick), and IIRC Fas and Morlock are both Muslims.

@Minerva-I've been planning to learn Japanese when I'm older (I've got a basic grounding in French, and I'll learn to speak German in a few years also) for a while now. Would you say, knowing both english (my native language) and Japanese, that it's a difficult language to learn?

I would have thought the emotionally stable part was far rarer than the "Intelligent male" part. Maybe I is not smart enough.

You do not recall correctly, as I am Jewish.
There are very few minorities who are minorities everywhere. Most groups have a geographical concentraion somewhere in the world. In Shanghai- I'm a very small and insignificant minority.
In NYC I am not considered a minority, as the city is comprised of many minorities. Even the mayor is jewish.
It's all relative.

Mahar is a Philipino living in Thailand, so he belongs to a minority group where he lives. Same thing with Fas/CM, he's from Pakistan but lives in Switzerland. Morlock is not a Muslim, he is a Jew (an American Jew I think?) living is Israel, thus not a minority.

Both I and High Lord Dave were adopted, HLD might view himself as Asian-American (I'm not sure) whereas I simply view myself as Swedish with an Asian look (I was an infant when I came to Sweden, and my parents are Swedish, so it's diffcult to perceive myself as Asian since it's only skin-deep, I don't even speak an Asian language). Children adopted from non-European countries are quite common in Sweden, some might view themself as belonging to special minority group (neither immigrant nor entirely Swedish), whereas some don't feel they identify themselves as a minority group at all.

@Minerva and Ode: I started studying Japanese last autumn, unfortunately I had to quit after only 1 semester because of my increasing workload. I found it rather difficult since it doesn't resemble any other language I know, but at least I learned how to say a few tourist phrases, and explain that I am not Japanese! (Many people think I'm from Japan) Hopefully I will have time to continue my Japanese course later. You should definitely try Ode, it's a very interesting and fascinating language

Yup Pakistani muslim. There are 2 others as well. Well they don't post anymore. We have some aussies, like Tam and Curdis (where did he go by the way?) and hmmm...the rest seem to be either American or European. Yeah and a couple of weird brits in the mix as well.

Precisely. Everybody is a minority somewhere, and not a minority somewhere else. I assumed that mr Waesel's question was referring to whether we are minorities where we actually live.

Btw, AFAIK Jewish people aren't viewed as a minority group where I live either.

I was thinking more along the lines if we were minorities on GB. As a majority seem to be Americans or Europeans. We will only find out when he posts again.
