more than 100%

Does 110% exist? Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving
more than 100%? Or giving it 110%. We have all been to those meetings
where someone wants over 100%. How about achieving 103%? Here is a little
math that might prove helpful.

Rob-hin i belive it means something like "uitstellen"

I subscribe to the "New In Chess" magazine, which is Dutch, and I picked up a bit of the language when I was studying German at the local Goethe Institute.

Speaking German is almost the same as Dutch.
Speaking good German is a hell.

You think German and Dutch are very similar? Can't say I do, except in the grammar. Pronunciation and the way the languages are used in writing and conversation seem very different to me. And then also different in different sentences.

That makes the German language rather difficult (but alot of people will say the same about Dutch)

But maybe you're right i don;t like the dutch language that much. But I don;t like German either, i think it's a real ugly language, i can;t realy explain why.

I think English is a great language, it has more words (that's true for some English words i can't think of a normal dutch word) and it's prenounched (i think i misspelled thisone) better then Dutch (or German)

Perhaps it's best to hear it from a Dutchman - my boss; he was the one who encouraged me to take up German.

I once asked him how he would rank the major European languages in ascending difficulty. He said the English language is the easiest to master, followed by French, Spanish, German and Dutch. He himself speaks all these languages fluently.

Since I speak and write passable English and French, I asked him if I could master Dutch too. He gave me a long look and hinted politely that I should pick up German first! And that's how it came to pass.

Got it in one. It's just like Chinese dialects; sound the same but very distinct from one another. And I will be damned if I can speak Shanghainese!

For instance, the word "procrastinating" would translate into "zögernd" in German. Something like that. Very different from Dutch.

Max Euwe was a fine World Chess Champion and a true gentleman; I am not worthy to be his grandson.

I read his biography from cover to cover - nice.

Der - the (he)
Die - the (she)
Das - the (it)
Des - its

As a german speking person I find it quite easy to understand dutch if its spoken slowly or if I read it...and if the dutchman in question is sober...We get a lot of drunken ones in the holiday seasons each year.
