Now, i didn't want to side track the other gaming thread, so i decided to post here
I haven't bought a game after Civ 3 - which came out like nov or something.
So with the wealth of knowledge on games i was thinking that this would be a good place to get some info on some good games.
So in your opinion (of course

) what games are great and should be bought?
I will be getting the following some day:
1. Star Trek Aramada 2
2. Star Trek Bridge Commander
NWN and Warcraft 3 when they come out.
Anything else that is worth buying??

What i actually do is i stick to certain genres and certain companies and then see how gamespot rates them.
I love the RPG setting, so i have the BG series, IWD and PST.
And for strategy i have the usual, starcraft, warcraft, AC, Civ etc.
But i hate it when i finish a game in less than a month.
Then i get a game i haven't played for a long time and play that agian, but how many times can you re-play some games?

The best single player FPS for longevity is No One Lives Forever (NOLF) it is really good and lasts for a long time and has replayability. Still the best single player FPS IMO
Well i have replayed BG/2 PST and IWD a stack load of times but i find i can not replay them again, it is just too much and boring....

Clive Barker's Undying scared the heck out of me. Wasn't that replayable after that. The Longest Journey was a good puzzle game that I enjoyed.
Concerning BG series and IWD, have you tried the add-ons? HoW and Ascension are pretty good.
@CM
Have you tried Empire Earth? It can't be finished in a month - at least not for me! Civ 2 was a good turn-based RTS that I liked. Have not played 3 yet though. Is it good?

Since i haven't played Civ 2 or the add ons at all.
I liked Civ 3 a great deal.
I played the original game on the Mac in 1993.
Then i picked up Civ 3.
I had a blast, and now i am thinking if i can play cov 3 on my comp back home.
Gotta check.
But this is one game i will definitely replay a couple of thousand times.
The only problem I have is that you can make custom civs.
That sucks.
But the graphics are good, I like the new civ specific weapons and special abilities.
I would say if you are a strategy lover it is a must buy.
Edit: Haven't played empire earth?
Is it any good, what type is it?
Strategy?

Longest Journey was also really short
HoW is great but short (recurring theme), haven't got the bandwidth for Ascension

Never heard of that?
Is it a simple FPS or more complex with say puzzels and a story line?

You play a female character known as Kate Archer, the storyline is a direct rip off of a Bond theme but very amusing

Check out fox interactives site....you should find it there

Strategy?
EE is a real-time strategy game by Sierra. Rocks!
NOLF is a fantastic game, on par with Medal Honour (oops!)

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Nothing even comes close these days, to my desire for NwN (well desire for a game that is

)

The problem with so many graphical adventures is that they're completely non-linear. I find that the best ones are those which make me forget I'm dealing with a game--all the humor of the Monkey Island series, or the art of Grim Fandango.

A must buy for me right now is Jedi Knight 2 (Having to rely on PC rentals is no fun, and I'm not going to burn it for obvious reasons)

My SO played No One Lives Forever and I must admit I watched him play most of it. It was fun and the dialogue was very interesting, different than most of those boring shooting games he plays...
I am thinking of getting the expansion to 'Tropico', as I hear they actually let you turn houses and other neat things
Other than that, IWD II if it comes out....NWN.....Maybe Dungeon Seige if Ned votes for it.
