I'm just curious, as I've been hearing a lot about these things since moving, but whats everyone's opinions on FTP servers, and the fact that people can share their files?

My opinion? I think it is unlawful, but I do use them because I like to listen to other songs from bands that I hear on the radio, I then more than likely buy the album if I like it.

Part of my problem is that I like to listen to bands like H-Blockx and I honest to god can't find thier album anywhere! :(

Edit: Sorry, wrong smiley... :(

What do you mean exactly? FTP servers arent illegal, spreading copyrighted data is.

FTP servers are just technology, i cant see how they could be either moral or imoral.

I'm wondering if people believe I am talking about things like Morpheus, and Kazaa. Just to clear up, I'm not. what I'm talking about is people who set up their computer as an FTP server, and share the contents of their hard drives with others.

They are technically known as ratio servers and they are used primarally for the transfer of data over high speed connections, they are basically one of the main causes of large quantities of warez and ROM's being circulated, so i am going to close this thread since we don't discuss illegal activites as our recent debates have proved.

On that note i have closed at least 4 threads dealing with this type of subject, they are just unecessary, would everyone please stop talking about illegal mediums.
