I am sorry for posting things like this again but I just dont get it.
I am trying to play multiplayer with a friend and he connects to me. I have adsl and he has cable. First time we played it worked but this time we got this message all the time: Waiting for the server to admit new players... and then he was kicked out. We have the same version of the game, SoA and ToB fully patched... what is the problem here? We even had our firewalls turned off.

We both have our firewalls turned off and I did add the noplayertimeout line to baldur.ini but to no avail.
Multiplayer doesn't seem to be functioning as well as it should on bg2 IMO... too bad cause I really want to play it this way... thanks anyway.

Aaaargh! Am I the only one not able toget multiplayer not to work? I have been at it now for days and my patience is running out. Do both players need to have full install? Can that be the problem? Baldurdash patches, can they cause a problem? Please help.

Yes, the patches can cause a problem. From
here:
For Multi-player games, all players must have -
- The same game version
- The same official patch version
- The same framerate
- The same search path nodes
- The same mods - this goes for fixes from Baldurdash, too
You must have a recomended or full install to play multiplayer (minimum install won't work in multiplayer).

Rachel:
I had a look on the MS website, and there's another port your should make sure is open if you have DirectX 8. If you don't both have the same version of DirectX, I would recommend getting it.
The port is 6073. Open it in the same way as the others.
Hope this helps!

It is working!!! Yippie! Thanks!! I re-installed the game completely and reconfigured my internet options and now it works... hope it lasts aswell... Thanks again. It must have been the baldurdash patches that were causing the problems then.
