check Littiz' reply in Solo and the link he refers to. It has several links to other threads and should cover most of your questions about Kensai/Mages. About the stats: you'll need a minimum of 15 in the primary stats of the starting class (so Strength and Constitution for a Kensai) and 17 in the primary stats of the next class to dualclass (so Intelligence for a mage). The rest is up to you.

Party advice: you'll propably want a Cleric or Druid in your party. I recommend taking Aerie (for healing AND mage spell purposes).
A good fighter is never a waste, so I'd recommend taking Minsc (for fun) or Keldorn (for power; especially equipped with certain items... but that's another story entirely). And finally, take Imoen/Yoshimo along (for Roleplaying purposes and thieving skills).

@Eerhardt: Oh, man, I've no words,
I'm REALLY flattered!!! :o
A cross-search with my username in your reappearing topics thread!!!!!

Fun, thinking that I was skeptical about the kensai/mage
(I used to spell it kensaY/mage... )
lol!

Anyway, I hate to say it, but I think you have been uncorrect..
I'm quite sure that Con is NOT a primary requisite for the Kensai,
only Strenght. Actually I cannot verify it...

@gsrullaz:
hope you have found all the needed informations!
If you need something more specific, we are glad to help!

But asking about party composition here could be a dangerous
thing....
We are not wise players, we're FANS and SUPPORTERS of our
most beloved NPCs!!!! :D

*Subliminal message*
take Immie with you... take Immie... you'll need a good thief...
take her.... take her....

uooooooopps, 300th post!!! Gotta say something smart...
hmmm..
ehmmm..
Up the Irons!!!!
:D

If you will always have 6 in your party then dual at 9. You get all of the HP die rolls of the Kensai, possible grand mastery (if you want it), and a pretty good THAC0. I'm not sure how long this THAC0 will continued to be seen as good. In "big" battles you will probably use Tenser's but you can't walk around with Tenser's always on. So in battles where you don't use it later on in the game your Kensai/Mage may or may not be useful as a warrior.

Otherwise dual at 13. You THAC0 will be 5 better plus you get an extra 1/2 attack.
