Those of you who have been following the development of Blizzard's Warcraft III will be thrilled to learn that the infamous sixth race (the other 5 are orcs, humans, night elves, undead, and NPC demons) has been implemented! From their site:

Blizzard is pleased to announce the latest addition to the Warcraft universe: the mighty Pandaren Empire. The pandaren, driven from their tranquil lands by the marauding centaurs, fight ceaselessly to find a new homeland among the warring civilizations of southern Kalimdor.

In development behind sealed doors for much of the past year, the Pandaren Empire is now ready for its entry into the game. There have been a number of clues about the Empire prior to this announcement, such as the pandaren head on the Night Elf Demon Hunter’s blade, which signifies that the Demon Hunter hunts pandaren in addition to demons. A pandaren can also be spotted in our recent Night Elf vs. Undead wallpaper.

Beta Testers should expect to see the new race in the next patch. The Pandaren Empire will be fully implemented in the game and balanced with the other races without any delays to the final release date. Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is still on schedule for a first half of 2002 release.

*For those who are unaware, this was Blizzard's April Fool's joke. Those guys have a great sense of humor (and they certainly go all out on a joke; with character sketches, screenshots, gifs, and wallpaper).

Nice april fools though - and I'm sure they got a lot of fans to fall for it.

I seemed to have heard one about Bill Gates getting shot in L.A? - Has anybody heard this? (Cruel one imo, and mainly towards us Win. users (sorry - couldn't help myself ))

ssssssshhhh, be very careful, don't upset Bill.

When he was young and generally happy he without premeditation gave us DOS.

He got a bit older and crankier and after some thought he gave us Windows.

Some one at Apple pee'd him off one day so after stewing about it for some time he came up with Windows 95/Windows NT.

So everyone please be nice to Bill. Who knows what might happen if you got him mad and he *planned* a revenge. - Curdis !

Pretty much my same reaction, Gaxx. I can't believe they went to so much trouble for their April Fool's day joke. It was well worth it though.

I saw one on TV from the good old days when the BBC did April Fools...they had a newsreader saying 'Shocking news has just come in that an unusual pestulent insect has destroyed the entire spaghetti plantation of Italy and a great deal of spaghetti plants in Greece and Sicily. Experts believe that a spaghetti shortage may result worldwide...'
