Well didnt play either SoA in ToB for little bit and then came back to it last night and discovered it didnt work. I kept getting an error box when i clicked play that had no text but simple said error and had an OK button. So i decided to reinstall. Well i did taht 3 hours ago and have been ripping my hair out since. When i was supposed to change disc 1 to disc 2 the install froze up and i had to reboot. I removed program on the files that did get downloaded and even though it went through all the screens and said successful it deleted nothing, so i manually deleted it and tried to install again. Well now when i put disc in to autorun it says Play not Install (even though all i have on my hard drive is saved games and portraits) and when i try to install from add/remove programs it keeps asking me to remove all components of BG2 which i tried AGAIN, GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR anger please is
you can help do, im at my wits end

First, I'd try a complete uninstall and reinstall. If that doesn't work, use Regedit and remove all of the registry entries for both BG2 and ToB, then reinstall from there.

Some other things to try:

Run Scandisk to see if you have some other disk errors that might be causing the error.

Install the latest patches for the games.

Have you installed any new hardware on your computer since the last time you played them (ie-video card, sound card, etc.)? If you have, make sure that you have the latest drivers for your new hardware.

Update your version of DirectX.

Go to Bioware's website and see if this is a known issue.

If all else fails, you can always perform the ritual sacrifice of a Tomagachi and/or a Tekno and do an fdisk/Windows reformat (but I'd save that as a last resort).

@Fitz - check BG2 Known Issues at Bioware's site. There is a hidden registry key that you need to delete :)
