Ok, please read the SYM specific rules. We have asked that there be no more pointless polls posted. If this gets out of hand, we will ask Buck to disallow them completely.
BTW I'm closing the 2 that were started after we requested this in another thread.

I just have one question, and only because I want to be clear on this.
What's the difference between a Poll posted asking something like what your favorite nut is and a topic posted asking what your favorite nut is?

The annoyance factor. *cue rimshot*

Cute one Kayless
@ Saturn, We're trying cut down on topics like that too. Keep the spam confined a little bit. We did ask in the SYM specific rules that posted topics have some relevance

Could we have a poll to see if we need any more polls??
Or maybe a poll to see which mod will close all polls??

@McBane,
I don't think we need a poll to see which mod will close the polls but it certainly warrants a 'no spam' discussion thread here in SYM. I think it goes without saying that introducing Spam to such a discussion would lack class or taste.
I think a poll to see if we need more polls is in order, however, will probably not happen since we exist under the despot rule of Buck and the loyal servants he bribes with enfiefing terms like moderator.
Perhaps we could conduct an underground poll consisting of Private messages.
btw, how did we go from debating the need for polls to examining briefs. Oh well, I'm in. Who's briefs are on the docket first.

I am very keen to get ontop of this poll furor with a witty and devstating pun, or play on words...however for this I will need to know how to spell the other type of poll, ie someone who comes from Poland...how's it done?

Relevance to what? Don't get me wrong, I don't care for mindless drivel. But by what measure is
nut-boy's topic less relevant than the more carefully crafted
worst you have been sick thread? Subjectively, the latter appears to add more to the forum IMO, but we can't really ask people to think WWWW (what would Waverly want?) prior to hitting submit. Or can we?

That's a brilliant idea! Let's all PM Waverly and ask what he thinks, before we submit any postings

Or would you prefer e-mails??

I hadn't looked at the nut poll until a second ago, but I agree with Wankerly's point. What is 'relevent'? Before this, mods were saying 'if it's not relevent to the starting post', but now they are just saying 'if it's not relevent'. Relevent to what? We are gonna have to figure out soem proper rules if the content of what people say is gonna be restricted even when it's not offensive, and I for one don't want to see a situation arise where there aren't any real rules to govern what threads the mods close....I don't wanna see Fable and his goon squad becoming para-military...

Hmm. I
am psychic, so if you aren't getting through to me, the problem is obviously on your end. For those of you who are mere mortals, I suggest you just think long and hard about WWWW before posting.
Frogus: I'm sure your mother has told you this before, but it is bad form to insult people you don't know. Listen to your mum, and try not to make Waverly angry, hmm?

Well relevant isn't necessarily the most descriptive term, but T'raptor didn't have enough caffeine in the system yet
Frogus..I am not part of a goon squad
As I said before(maybe not clearly enough) we're trying to limit spam threads without content, we aren't trying to do away with spam since that would be unfun and impossible. There are plenty of spam threads in existance already as well as other sorts of threads. The taverns I consider social threads, a place to catch up, chit-chat whatever, which is fine. Other threads like the joke threads are to share something amusing. The problem with polls IMO is they get out of hand like some on another board;"Do you hate me?, Who's your favorite poster with x amount of posts or title?,What's your astrologic sign?, Who is the stupidest poster?, etc. I and the other mods don't want to see those sorts of things happening here.
@ McB: Judges briefs are exempt, however I will put your name at the top of the list for examining Bailiff Grunts briefs

alright Waverly I'm sorry...it's just so darned catchy...
@T'L I know you're no goon...but Fable has forces at his disposal...

Well, as the judges would by you, sleep and fable, yours is the only briefs that I would care to examine. As for Bailiff Grunt, we all know he don't have no briefs. (BTW, could you make him put some pants on)

I take some exception to this, @Frogus. I see no indication in the post that you meant it humorously. I have closed fewer threads than some other moderators, and have been very lenient with some scathing abuse aimed at myself in the past for simply holding different opinions from other posters. In fact, I once stopped posting altogether for a good while in order to avoid upsetting a couple of users here, who simply didn't like my slant on political and religious issues and wanted me to shut up. As a moderator, I felt that I had to be more flexible and less assertive than the next person.
If this is meant to be funny, it doesn't come across that way. If you're being serious, I think you need to back up your words.
