Dudley Moore dies, 64
Just heard from the BBC that Dudley has died of a degenerative brain disease. He always struck me as being The Real Thing in an industry stuffed to the gills with fakes: a genuine literate and witty man, a good writer, a fine classical composer, an strong classical pianist, and good actor. What will always win my respect was that at the height of his popularity he simply couldn't stand the Hollywood film industry, its ignorance, self-congratulatory cynicism and emptiness any longer, and left it.
If you can find his Beyond the Fringe records, do yourself a favor: buy 'em and listen to some truly delightful satire.
