Well i have work tomorrow, so i will just have to wait till the morning at which point i will have an excessively large gripe about every movie that wins something
So are you going to debunk any of the "Winners" Morlock?

It seems that it wasn't to be for LotR... still, there's always next year and the year after

A Beautiful Mind and LotR both came away with four awards, but ABM got the big ones. I'm disappointed, but hardly surprised, since it's the kind of movie the Academy loves. And it was a good show, pretty difficult to predict the winners.
Full round-up to follow shortly...

@Tammy so, what are your reactions?
The best actor and actress categories were nice surprises (and Russell Crowe looked just a bit grumpy

)... though I'm just waiting for the media to start calling this the PC Oscars

Denzel Washington is the only Afro-American to win that category since Sidney Poitier (who picked up an award as well), and given the roles that he has played, the Oscar was due... and Halle Berry is the first Afro-American to win Best Actress.
I really think The Man Who Wasn't There should have taken Cinematography, since it was snubbed for nomination in the other categories, but I don't begrudge it to LotR, because it is a stunning film. Also I was surprised, given the amount of nominations it got that Amelie didn't get anything - thought it might take the foreign film category.

My reactions, from an Australian point of view disappointed. However this was one of
the worst awards night due to the excessive amounts of smear campaigns.
I'm honestly suprised that Pearl Harbor won an award. Regardless of what field it was for.
I'd dispute the Black Hawk Down one for sound, mainly because they butchered the Jimi Hendrix song.
But Shrek won and LotR bagged a few awards. So I'm satisfied to say the least.

Well, Moulin Rouge got a couple (more than I thought it deserved), even if Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe didn't win...

True... but should we take the fact that A Beautiful Mind won despite the accusations to mean that the Academy members vote for the movie they thought most deserved to win, and didn't take any notice of the mudslinging? In which case that would surely be a good sign...

Gotta agree with you there

I only vaguely recall that... I think it was probably quite deserving regardless.

I don't think there was much doubt that Shrek would win. Actually I was pleased to see the winner for the short animation was the only one of those I've seen - it's the short that's on the front of Monsters, Inc

I thought the name was familiar. I enjoyed that more than Shrek to be honest.

I liked Shrek, although it didn't quite live up to the hype.

Hehe - I can't help feeling a bit happy that LoTR didn't get the major Oscar-awards (Best Actor, Best Picture etc.) - because for once these guys shows that thay are in agrement with my own oppinion, which I stated back when LoTR hype was on its highest.
(That LoTR was more about effects imo)
