What are your 3 favourite band/musician/group etc.

Knowing how huge SYM is, I wouldn't be surprised if this has been shown before. As I've seen this on a few other boards which have led to a few interesting discussions.

1. I would have to put The Jimi Hendrix Experience at the top. Not only were these guys revolutionary for their time, there hasn't been anyone like them since. Also Purple Haze got me learning to play the guitar, but I can't play like Jimi :(

2. Eric Clapton would be one of my fave musicians, he's Sunshine Of Your Love is a song which has stood the test of time. And Tears In Heaven, the unplugged version is just magical.

3. I grew up listening to Smashing Pumpkins so it was a shame when they broke up. However their music lives on, in my stereo at least. :D

Britney Spears, N'Sync, Backstreet -

No, wait... wrong list!

All right, this is the correct one:

U2, Simon & Garfunkel, Pink Floyd

New Wave!

Beatles is numero uno although they are not definitely a New Wave Band.

Numero dos: U2

Numero tres: The Care (yes, it's an "a" and I'm not talking about The Cure)

U2, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Zep, Who, Jethro Tull, Ozzy, The Clash, The Specials, Cream, De La Soul, Miles Davis, Santana, Grateful Dead, Widepsread Panic, Allman Brothers, Iron Maiden, Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Marvin Gaye, Parliament, Bob Marley, The Doors, Lou Reed, John Coltrane, Cake, Simon and Garfunkel

I don't know, it's tough picking 3 musicians/bands when my music tastes have fluctuated so many times in my life. Anyone listed above could be in my top 3 list on any given day.

It's difficult to only pick three, so I pick one from classical, one from jazz and one from pop/rock.

1. Dimitri Shostakovitch

2. Lester Young

3. Björk
