I have to do a math project (math? project? who would've ever thought this would happen?)

anyway, I did not anticipate this problem: How the hell do you type something to the something powered, such as x squared (or to the second power) ?

I've tried various key combinations........any help would be appreciated.

Hmm on most fonts on the American keyboard typing x then holding the alt key while typing 178 will give you x squared
alt + 179 is cubed..I didn't see any others..you can also go into accessories and look at the character viewer to get different key combos.

If you can't get that happenning it is perfectly exceptable to write x*x, or x*x*x, although this makes writing 6.62 x 10(to the power of -27) problematic. - Curdis !

If you have word, you can use the cllifnotes as the power.
