I came across will o wisps and wanted to use either Apoktesis (whatver the name) or my shock damage Mage guild staff.

It says 'no magicka' and indeed I am drained of all my magicka. But the staves are charged up fully with respect to soulstones and enchanters at the guild.

Does a staff require magicka?

It shouldn't do, that's the whole point of them, to give a mage a back-up when her/his magicka has run out.

Excuse me if this is a dumb question, but you are using the correct button aren't you. That really is the only explanation i can think of , by default the correct key would be the left mouse button; check to see you haven't re-mapped the controls.

Oh I see! Yeah I was using the spellcasters button! :facepalm:
