As a potential member i'm posting this here under advice of Thorin. I'm considering a Half-Elven Cleric/Thief with the stats:

Strength 11
Dexterity 15
Constitution 12
Intelligence 9 (10)?
Wisdom 14
Charisma 11 (10)?

It was suggested i bump up intelligence to 10 and charisma down to 10. I wasn't for sure what effects intelligence had on clerics. What do you think?

I might also tell you that i am known as Saien McGerney to a few.

Saien, welcome! I am Matti Il-Amin, member of the Blades' Divine Wing, and a paladin, but don't hold that against me! Well met!

Here here, Brother Matti! Paladins have their place in the realms as well. We shall serve together, striving to inspire the down-hearted, heal the afflicted, and cleanse the lands of the evil that oozes forth from the darkest quagmires and forgotten halls of decay.

Of course, you must forgive me if from time to time one of your missing belongings turns up in my pack. My desire to serve is equaled only by my temptation to pocket a pretty occasionaly in hopes of winning the heart of a local tavern wench for the evening. :D I'm willing to account for my shortcomings and settle all my debts within the Brotherhood.

Well met Saien, may ye steal many a pocket of our enemies, of course, my eyes shall be diverted from the action as long as it is our enemies! :D :D

Hi guys.

I'm posting this just to let you know I'm writing up the rules for the guild and voting system. If you have any suggestions, PM, e-mail me at connavar@btinternet.com , or post a message somewhere. :)

Hey, everybody. I've been trying to get a chracter into BotB for a while now, with no luck. (I have a PM in for Xandax, but I understand he is on vacation.) In the meantime, I thought I might post my guy here, by way of introduction. Lemme know what you think.

Der Moench was born into an aristocratic family; a fact which those who do not know him may guess at by his reference to the general public as “peasants,” his expensive tastes (in food, drink, clothing, living quarters, etc), and his generally haughty and distant nature. But the easy life of a lay-about aristocrat didn’t suit der Moench, and he left family and fortune behind to pursue his own unique path. As an aside, it may be noted that this apparent sacrifice of station in life may have been rather more selfish than not: der Moench’s corrupt and generally hated father had run the family nearly to the poorhouse, while at the same time so inflaming the “peasants” that a revolt could not be far behind. What became of his family after his departure, der Moench does not know, and does not much seem to care. Being of a studious and philosophical nature (generally), it was his first thought to enter the clergy. Accordingly, he has recently become an initiate in the Priesthood of Helm (“der Moench,” is in fact the name he took when he entered the Priesthood, and is simply a translation of “the monk” in his native tongue; his family name he will not reveal to casual acquaintances). Now der Moench seeks to expand the word of Helm – by rational discourse or by the sword, as needs may be.

Str: 13
Dex: 10
Con: 10
Int: 14
Wis: 16
Cha: 8

Anyway, that's the chracter I THINK I'll be using in NWN - subject to change, since I have no CLUE what the rules are like for this game!

EDIT: Oh, BTW, Chaotic Neutral Cleric.

Hail and Well net der Moench!

May Torm bless you and all around you!

Feel free to rant about things in here or talk about prospective rules, spells anything.

Thank God! A full cleric!

@Nippy: Thanks for the warm welcome. Now that you mention it, I do have some questions on rules. I stopped playing PnP AD&D (as it was known) years ago, so all this 3E stuff is new to me :o So, how closely will NWN follow these rules? I just ran out and bought the Players Handbook, and I see (among other surprises) that Cha affects Turning Undead (I may have to bump mine from 8!) and that only good clerics can turn (so I may want to reconsider that CN!) I am especially curious about that latter point, if anybody knows how NWN is going to go at it. Lastly, what's with this clerics using crossbows? Are all weapons now open to all classes? I'll keep reading, but anybody who wants to drop a line...thanks!

@ der Moench Thanks for joining a full Cleric is always useful! As far as we know (which is very little! :o ) Weapon restrictions stay the same as BG2 or 1. The problem is that Bioware have had to change around the rules a little bit to make the game succesful so certain things are unknown. However your mention of Clerics being able to use X-Bows is new to me where did you find it? (Saying that, at the Gencon video a cleric was able to use a sword :D :D ;) )

*clears throat* "Alright all you clerics. Now, you take the pointy end of the sword, and you jam it into the chest of your opponent till it hits the back of their rib cage or the hilt of the blade. OH, DON'T GIVE ME THOSE SQUEAMISH LOOKS! WHAT DID YOU THINK IT WAS FOR?!? Geeeesh! Clerics!" :D

Seriously, I hope clerics' weapon choice do get expanded. Shouldn't a cleric of Tempus, the god of war, get to wield a battle axe or something? How about clerics of Talona wielding poison daggers? Makes sense, doesn't it? Okay, well to me it makes sense!

I agree Rail, whats the point of having a god invloved in war if you can't stab someone? :D :D
