Any hope at all for another BG title?

I love BG2 more then words could describe, I've never played a game so immersive and intricate, I love the engine as it is at 800x600 res...is there *any* hope at all for another BG game or another D&D game with that type of engine?
I've read lots of stuff to say that BG2:TOB is the last, and its definately the end of the BG series..but I'd like another game with a driven story with character interaction (something IWD lacked).
I'd probably pass out if I saw a thing in PC gamer talking about BG3
Thanks!

The Infinity Engine has seen its last game....with the possible exception of IWD 2.
Both Never Winter Nights and Biowares Jedi RPG will be what you're looking for. Both are going to have immersive single player sides.

The Infinity engine has seen its last game..how about the style?
Bg2 had the same Engine as bg1.. just improved graphics and whatnot..well, could there possibly be another game with the same style of engine?

When/If BG3 is launched - it will proberly use the experiences gathered by NwN and make a shift into the isometric 3D worlds. (IMO)

Well if has the same unsurpassable quality that Bg2 has, then I'll adapt!

No more Baldur's Gate; the story's over, man. However, you can expect to be drowned in a deluge of sub-standard fan-made NWN episodes.

Well there have been talk about a BG3 - but not continuing the Bhaal-spawn story, but with a new plot. If this will become reality is another matter indeed.
And yes - count on numerous BG-modules of NwN

Nothing 100% sure about BG3, though rumors as always tend to fly around. If there will be BG3 - what I would really love also - then it wont be about the Bhaalspawn of course. Which is OK with me too, as long as the new story would be good and all that
From engine, then something new wouldn't hurt indeed. Something better and improved, with much better 3d support. As it is now, having the 3d acceleration turned on actually slows the game down, rather then speeds it up. There are also few restrictions in BG games, which come from the engine itself, rather then the rules. For example the Ioun Stones were supposed to be wearable by mages, as they were invented by a mage for the mages (free tip: King Storhm's Mask is wearable by all btw, and acts like a helmet - protects from critical hits - protect your thief, or your mage, today!).
Guess we will see. I personally WANT Fallout 3 badly as well, and as Bioware president said, it's a game they want to make as well and in new year (soon), they will tell about it even more. Cool, I just hope that it will be as good - and better if possible (which would be hard heh) - as the previous 2. We'll see what the time brings. It would be really sad if the BG as such would be "over", I don't get even half such feeling in IWD as in BG

And NWN, well, can be zoomy but it still isn't BG..

What if we vote for BG series to be continued? Do you think Bioware will take it under consideration?
I can't stand thinking that ToB was the last episode. What about some new adventures of our pc character as an ordinary mortal? Something similar, anyway? Eh? Eh? Eh?
Cheers
P.S. Is it true that one can play NWN only on line? I know it's not the right forum for it, but since it has been mentioned...
Happy New Year!

I'm in the voting thing!!!!!!!!
Maybe we should open a new topic?
Well, maybe a lot of mails could move things
towards a sequel....

IWD didn't compare to BG2 because there was zero character development and interaction.
I'd love to see more BG.

I readily agree that BG2 and ToB stood out among the PC/Platform rpgs..with its involved storyline and well developed character interactions. Question : Is Torment comparable in any way to BG2/ToB ?

The thing I love most about BG2 compared to my favorite Final Fantasy titles is the hardcore edge..people die..you can kill people..bad things happen..(like the tanner flaying people alive).

I think Torment definitely ranks up there with BG, but doesn't quite match up to BG2. The story's really good, but the combat end leaves something to be desired.

The only vote a game publisher looks at is the vote you make with your cash when you buy their product. Money talks. Anybody can give their opinion of what game should be done next, but if the financial support isn't there to turn a profit on a particular game type, it simply won't get done.

If BG3 would continue with the Bhaalspawn storyline... man, imagine what powerlevels your character & partymembers would reach... I'm not entirely sure I would like to play with and against 50 lvl mages and clerics and so on.
Just imagine what a conjurer would be able to summon... a platoon of Planetars? A couple of Demogorgons?
Besides, your char turned into a god after the last battle in ToB (if you chose that option). So your character would be a god in BG3 and who would he/she be fighting? Other gods? Hmm... I see possibilities after all...

Coot I see dead people, but what does it matter? You could have your son(ie you chose to stay on Faerun)

Craig, if u see dead people you either need to go to a shrink or to clean your appartment real bad

.
If there's ever going to be a BG3 my main concern would be Viconia... Bioware would have one major problem with me if they'd dare leave her out

@fable:
Unfortunately, you're correct. So I'm rephrasing: What if we reassure Bioware that we'll be the first to buy their next BG title? (As long as they keep the good work up.) After all, we all are devoted BG players, aren't we? And we are a great a number.
Anyway, the thought of a third BG game not making any profit is just ungrounded.
As for the voting suggestion, it would mean exactly the same, but in a more idealistic and democratic fashion: we don't demand, we just ask for it --I WANT A BG3 TITLE, AND I WANT IT NOW!!
Cheers

Maybe it could continue from ToB like ToB did from SoA. If you chose to become a God you could wage war on all the other Gods to gain their powers. The more Gods you killed the more powerful you'd become, with the final goal being to become the only god on Faerun.
If, on the other hand, you decided to remain a mortal, you could deal with having a mid-life crisis, raising a family (If you did the Aerie romance), and paying off the mortgage on your house

.
Perhaps there could be an
American Beauty-style situation.
