Big metal unit

Anyone got the big metal unit??? i was thinking to start a thief in BG1 en then go through TotSC en SoA+ToB. Any one did this before???
And whould it be cheating to chance my character as soon as i'n in BG2 to an assasin???

When you import a BG1 character into BG2, you are allowed to go through the latter stages of character creation which allows the character to pick a kit when he is imported. So no I wouldn't say that it was cheating to make your BG1 thief into a BG2 assassin as Shadow keeper or other tools are not required to do it.

I have done it. Its takes alot of time. But If I remember correctly I was able to keep the golden pantaloons from BG1(found in Baldurs gate), get the Silver pantaloons(extortion) and the Bronze pantalettes(The lousy adventurers in the Lair).
The Big Metal Unit and Bit metal rod are bad ass.
