I seem to remember looking at locations to get xp from volo. I never noticed this option this time around and now it's too late I thin as all we can say to volo is 'farewell'

I don't think I've ever had a limit on his quests.. (..even waiting until the swordcoast.)

Maybe I made the wrong dialogue choice. I have diplomacy and bluff. I wouldn't think intimidate is the right one.
