Greetings, I have run in to a issue with Skyrim, it starter when I got to the shrine of Boethiah, I get cracking/distortion noises very often now, doesn't matter where I go or who I talk to, I have tried changing my sound settings from 48000hz to lower but it doesn't make any differnce, I have tried to look all around the internet but I cannot find any solution to the issue(other then changing the sound quality which didn't work). It is odd it just suddenly starterd happing, I have played the game for 70hours and not encouterd a single issue with the sound, but now it is unplayable, it isn't the sound card as far as I can tell, listing to music, playing other games and everything else the sound works perfectly in, if you have any suggestion on how to fix this I would be very grateful!

enabling loudness equalization under enhancements fixed my crackling.

nvm, it came back

The issue seems to have resolved itself, I have no idea what could have caused it, but it has been gone all of today, after doing some checking it seems my pc was automatically defragging itself at the time I was experiencing the issues with Skyrim yesterday, I have no idea if that could have caused the crackling, I doubt it though.

You should ALWAYS defrag before installing ANY Bethesda game.
