I hope this post is in the right place.

I recently installed my PC copy of Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the Year edition on my new PC. It worked fine on my old PC which was running Windows XP Professional. My new PC is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The game appears to work fine in all aspects except the Save function. The Auto-save function works fine, but when I try to save at any other point, the screen tells me that the save was successful but the only actual saved game is the currently auto-saved point.
Any ideas on what is happening or how to fix this will be appreciated.

no idea, but you can try using the console to save and see if that works. press the ¬ or ~ key (whichever is to the left of your numbers and above tab) and type "save *name*"

personally I use the console anyway as then I can name my saves whatever I like. just don't use spaces in the name, you can use - or _ instead

Oblivion Save Game issue on Windows 7

I seem to recall something weird about save game files on Windows 7 because of the way the OS's default locations work. I don't recall which game I read it for, but the advice was to NOT install games in default locations because there are funny controls on what types of files can be saved where. I have no idea if this applies or how to work around default save locations, however.
