I have a fighter who is using a twobladed sword. I have two-weapon fighting and improved twoweapon fighting and ambidexterity. My base attack is 10/5 and my strenght bonus is 5 so my attackbonus is 15/10
when fighting with my twobladed sword I have 13/8 13/8 if I understand it correctly. Now my question is what happens when I get another attack next level?

Well, as you are right now you receive 2 attacks with each weapon. The first attack with each hands is made at a 13, and the second attack with each hand is made at an 8...this is just as you said.

When you gain a level, you're base attack bonus will be +11/+6/+1. Therefore, you will receive three attacks with your first hand at +14/+9/+4 (this includes your strength bonus and -2 penalty for fighting with two weapons). With your offhand you still only make two attacks, but at +14/+9.

Therefore, you have five attacks per full round

Okay thanks for clearing that up!
Cheers!

The way I read the PH and the DMG, you never get more than 1 attack per round with your off hand. All extra attacks come from your main hand. Thus, you would have 3 attacks with your main hand and 1 attack with your off hand, for a total of 4 attacks. I'm not sure which attack bonus you use for the off hand, but I believe it would be the first number. Check the manuals to verify.

You don't get two attacks for each hand with a two-bladed sword. I have no idea how you even came up with that. Two-handed fighting allows you to attack with both hands, not with both hands twice. When a fighter gets an extra base attack, it's not per hand. So, essentially, if a fighter's base attack is, say, +6/+1, and he's fighting with both hands, it isn't +6/+1 per hand. It's just a flat two attacks, and then an extra ONE attack if he's fighting with both hands.

I'm not sure what is meant by the "twobladed sword", but assuming that the fighter fights with two weapons it works out as described. The second attack comes from Improved Two-weapon fighting and nothing else.

Edit: What book does this twobladed sword come from? To me it's starting to sound like twohanded weapon and that is not dual wielding. Please enlighten me here.

To use a two-bladed sword is just like fighting with two weapons, that much is clear from the manual.
I am happy with my five attacks per round.

Um...yeah. Read the first two posts carefully (mine and bruce lee's) and you will understand. If not, read it again until you do. They're right. Doubt it not.

@zorac...the two-bladed sword is in the 3rd edition players handbook. it's a very interesting weapon. there are various two-handed weapons that serve as DOUBLE WEAPONS. the quarterstaff and two-bladed swords are examples of such. they can be used to fight two-handed if desired, but normal penalties are incurred.

A truly strange weapon. Has it existed in real life and if so when and where?

A quarterstaff also counts as a double weapon, since you can whack people with both ends equally well. :D
