Why would you need more? With 3E's extremely flexible multiclassing rules, there must be gazillions of character templates already.

Xyx got it right, here. With the 3e rules, character customization is so liberal, all kits of the past pale in comparrison!!

Also, classes can also be made/modified at the DM's discretion. If you want to play a Duerger, then just alter the dwarf template a bit. It's very flexible that way.

And don't forget the various prestige classes
available for the separate classes!

there are a LARGE number of classes to choose from, and the even larger number of prestige classes mean that you really shouldnt need to make your own. i understand the desire to make your own, ive tried a few (i end up just giving up). one way you could try to make a class, is choose a prestige class you like, develop a sense for the flavor, and then create another 10 (or 15) levels to make it a class with 20 levels. keep in mind the character level you would be when your first enter the class though.

Considering over half the classes not of core rules are absolutely horribly done, and most of the prestige classes out there either have too specific a concept or are just too broken, creating your own class seems to be a bit better of an idea than wasting 40 bucks on Complete arcane to get one or two classes that you -sort of- like.

this is sadly true. i was just merely stating how much there was out there. but you are VERY true, duskblades and warblades are an example of being broken (scouts have the potential but i have yet to work with them).
