number of followers in NEW VEGAS

Does your charisma determine the number of followers you can have in New Vegas? I am not at my computer at home but I am pretty sure I have a CHA of 4.

Right now I have ED-E and Boone as a follower... I cannot get any other followers, they say I have too many right now.

It appears as if ED-E does not count as a follower or care if I have another follower.

If I want another human follower I have to drop Boone.

How does Rex fall into the category of a follower, as a human or add on like ED-E?

You can have one human or humanoid follower plus one robot (ED-E or Rex) at a time, regardless of your Charisma. So to pick up Rex you have to dismiss ED-E. To pick up another human or humanoid companion, you need to dismiss Boone. Charisma does affect how well your companions fight for you (the higher your Charisma, the higher their damage and DT bonuses are).

And a word of advice - if you want to pick up a new companion, but you think you might want to switch back at some point in the future, make sure you are at the location where the first companion will go when dismissed. If you don't specify, their dialog usually indicates where they plan to return to. (minor spoiler:

if you've made it far enough in the main quest, you can tell them to return to the Lucky 38
). Anyway, wherever they will be going, make sure you are already there before you dismiss them. There is an extremely common problem where companions get lost if you dismiss them in the middle of the wasteland, and you can never find them again.

Dead Money Recommended Lv. 20+ (You loose all your items upon entering, but get them back when you finish.)

Christine Royce: Requires Perception 8 or Intelligence 8, Science 75

Excellent info, I was just considering how many simultaneous companions you could have assuming they like you, not what's actually required to make them like you enough to join up in the first place. One more example: (I just saw this for the first time last week) my character was on less-than-stellar terms with the NCR, and when I talked to Boone he said something to the effect of "If you're not a friend of the NCR, you're not a friend of mine", and had no dialog options.

You can have two, one human and one non-human.

Some NPC's are linked to your rep with certain factions, they'll say different things to you in regards to your overall standing in rep towards the people you might have killed.

Additional Note: A Companions NERVE is greatly influenced by Charisma for every 1 point of Charisma you gain +5% to damage and -5% damage threshold, so for players that manage to have a 10 with there Charisma they'll have +50%/-50% total.
